Team-By-Team Dynasty Roundup: NFC East (2021 Fantasy Football)

Team-By-Team Dynasty Roundup: NFC East (2021 Fantasy Football)

The NFC East was by far the NFL’s worst division last season. However, it’s become a really intriguing division from a dynasty perspective.

The defending champs, the Washington Football Team, have a ton of exciting weapons — but no long-term options at quarterback. The Dallas Cowboys were lethal offensively before Dak Prescott suffered a compound fracture and dislocated ankle. The New York Giants have Saquon Barkley and Kenny Golladay, so there are no more excuses for Daniel Jones. And the Philadelphia Eagles are filled with loads of potential and loads of uncertainty.

We’ll dive deep into this entire division in this NFC East dynasty roundup.

Dynasty Stock Watch

QB Dak Prescott | Stock: Neutral
Prescott got paid. Now, it all comes down to how he performs coming off this gruesome injury. When he’s right, he’s a top-10 dynasty quarterback.

RB Ezekiel Elliott | Stock: Neutral
Elliott is one of my top buy-low candidates in dynasty leagues. I tend to think that he was a victim of circumstances in 2020. Elliott was the RB3 during Weeks 1-5 when Prescott was healthy, and he rushed for 364 yards and scored six total touchdowns. Ask any tailback to produce with Andy Dalton and Ben DiNucci under center — they’ll fail just as badly as Zeke did. Buy him while the price is low.

WR Amari Cooper | Stock: Down
Cooper just doesn’t do it for me. He has all the talent in the world. He’s only 26. And yes, at the end of the year, his cumulative stats looked nice. But the ride is always bumpy. Trying to predict when Cooper will show up is an exercise in futility. He is fine as a WR2, but he isn’t someone I love long-term.

WR CeeDee Lamb | Stock: Up
Lamb is the Cowboys receiver to have in dynasty leagues. He is a dynamic talent who can play in the slot or on the outside. Prescott targeted him 40 times in Dallas’ first five games. I expect the two to pick up right where they left off in 2021.

WR Michael Gallup | Stock: Neutral
Gallup is really a pretty good player. And in an offense that should have a high passing volume, he could possibly produce even as the third weapon in the passing game. However, I’m willing to take a flyer on him in dynasty because his contract is up after this season, and I see no way the Cowboys can keep him. Gallup is good depth now, with perhaps a brighter future outside of Texas.

TE Blake Jarwin | Stock: Down
Jarwin was a popular breakout candidate in 2020 but tore his ACL early in the campaign. He could be a post-hype sleeper in 2021, but there are so many other options that he isn’t worth more than a flyer in dynasty.

Bold 2021 Dynasty Prediction: Elliott rebounds, vaulting himself back into the top-five dynasty running back conversation. Bonus prediction: CeeDee Lamb is a top-15 dynasty receiver heading into next season.

Dynasty Stock Watch

QB Daniel Jones | Stock: Neutral
This is the year that Daniel Jones has to show something. He has a good arsenal of weapons and an improved offensive line. There are no more excuses. That said, I’m not a believer in Jones and would be selling him in dynasty leagues.

RB Saquon Barkley | Stock: Down
Barkley is an incredible player, but his durability has to raise questions in dynasty leagues. If you can buy him low from a manager who is feeling burnt, go for it.

WR Kenny Golladay | Stock: Neutral
I love Kenny Golladay. If anyone can go up and catch errant passes from Jones down the seam, it’s him. From a dynasty perspective, I’m just not sure if the change in scenery drastically improves his stock.

WR Darius Slayton | Stock: Neutral

WR Sterling Shepard | Stock: Down
Shepard was disappointing once again in 2020. He is too injury-prone and inconsistent to count on anymore. The Giants drafted Kadarius Toney for a reason.

WR Kadarius Toney | Stock: Neutral
Toney is likely best suited for the slot at the next level. He is a dynamic athlete who needs some technical refinement.

TE Evan Engram | Stock: Down
I think it’s time to give up on Evan Engram.

Bold 2021 Dynasty Prediction: The Giants pursue a quarterback in 2022 after another turnover-plagued season from Jones.

Dynasty Stock Watch

QB Jalen Hurts | Stock: Neutral
I can’t buy the Jalen Hurts hype just yet. His rushing ability is enticing, but I need to see him develop more as a passer.

RB Miles Sanders | Stock: Down
Sanders failed to live up to last summer’s hype. He has plenty of talent, but he needs to improve his vision out of the backfield. Plus, the additions of Kenneth Gainwell in the draft and Kerryon Johnson in free agency are a bad omen. Something tells me that this new coaching staff isn’t quite as high on Sanders. I’d try to sell him.

RB Kenneth Gainwell | Stock: Neutral

WR Jalen Reagor | Stock: Neutral
In case you haven’t heard it 100 times already, the Eagles took Reagor before Justin Jefferson. While Reagor wasn’t great during his rookie season, there’s no reason to write him off just yet.

WR DeVonta Smith | Stock: Neutral
Smith was one of my favorite prospects in this upcoming draft class, and he was someone who stuck out to me last year when I was watching tape on Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs. If you ask me, Smith’s better than both those guys. His size is a concern, but his route running skills, strong football IQ, and straight-up baller abilities are what I gravitate toward.

TE Dallas Goedert | Stock: Up
Could this finally be the year Dallas Goedert gets unleashed? I’m hopeful, but the first step is for Philadelphia to part ways with Zach Ertz. Goedert has legitimate talent, he just needs the full workload.

Bold 2021 Dynasty Prediction: The Hurts experiment fails as opponents figure out how to contain him in the pocket. The Eagles go back to the drawing board at quarterback with potentially three first-round picks in the 2022 draft.

Dynasty Stock Watch

QB Ryan Fitzpatrick | Stock: Down
If you’re desperate and in a Superflex league, sure, I guess Fitzpatrick is viable. But how many times do we have to see this movie? Fitzpatrick will start the year, have some big games, then have his four-INT meltdown and get benched. Problem is, what does Washington really have behind him?

RB Antonio Gibson | Stock: Up
Gibson is a really exciting three-down weapon. Can he take the leap into RB1 territory in 2021?

WR Terry McLaurin | Stock: Up
I love Terry McLaurin’s talent. Fitzpatrick will get him the rock, but his dynasty value is still a bit uncertain because of the quarterback situation.

WR Curtis Samuel | Stock: Neutral
Samuel has always felt like more of a Percy Harvin, gadget-type player to me. I don’t really buy him as Washington’s true WR2. But he is an intriguing weapon who works the field horizontally. He’ll likely get more opportunities than he did in Carolina. I’m just not his biggest fan.

WR Dyami Brown | Stock: Neutral
Brown is a pure home run hitter right now who needs to develop his route running and work on his hands if he wants to start in the NFL.

TE Logan Thomas | Stock: Up
I’m a huge fan of Thomas. The former college quarterback finished as the TE7 last year, yet he is getting no love at all. Per our Experts Consensus Rankings, Thomas is ranked 15th in dynasty, behind guys like Irv Smith Jr., Jonnu Smith, Hunter Henry, and Evan Engram. People might be sleeping on Thomas, and I view that as a great buying opportunity.

Bold 2021 Dynasty Prediction: Logan Thomas is a top-eight tight end in dynasty leagues next year.
