Fantasy Baseball Pitching Streamers: Week 12 (2021)
Let’s get right into it this week.
Here’s how I did last week:
- Cole Irvin: W 0, L 0, QS 1, ER 1, K 4, BB 0
- Alex Cobb: W 0, L 0, QS 0, ER 5, K 3, BB 1
- J.T. Brubaker: W 0, L, 0, QS 0, ER 2, K 1, BB 2
- Vladimir Gutierrez: W 1, L 0, QS 1, ER 2, K 6, BB 2
- Tucker Davidson: W 0, L 0, QS 0, ER 5, K 4, BB 1
- Jake Odorizzi: N/A
- Jorge Lopez: W 0, L 1, QS 0, ER 5, K 3, BB 1
- Total: W 1, L 1, QS 2, ER 20, K 21, BB 7
A bad week, all things considered, but there were some bright spots mixed in with Irvin and Gutierrez throwing quality starts. The Tucker Davidson injury and Lopez pounding Thursday did us in, though.
As a reminder, we are looking for pitchers who are rostered in less than 30 percent of Yahoo leagues. Occasionally a recommendation will exceed that threshold if they are in a particularly favorable streaming situation.
Let’s get to it for Week 12.
Monday, June 21
Jake Odorizzi (HOU) at BAL 14%
Odorizzi piggybacked Lance McCullers Tuesday, but the Astros are moving toward a six-person rotation. I think Odorizzi is the most likely to get bumped just because of skill level, but you have to like him against the Orioles – even in Camden Yards.
Other option: N/A
Tuesday, June 22
Chris Flexen (SEA) vs. COL 8%
As much that has been made about the terrible road losing streak for the Diamondbacks, did you know that the Rockies are the worst team in baseball on the road with just five wins on the season? Yeah, the Mariners are bad, too, but I’m streaming against the Rockies outside of Coors Field whenever I can.
Other option: Bailey Ober (MIN) vs. CIN 4%
Wednesday, June 23
Matt Manning (DET) vs. STL 19%
For some transparency here, I”m writing this before Manning’s debut against the Angels. He’s been dreadful in the minors, and he’s still struggling with his command and developing a changeup. I’d avoid everyone on today, truthfully, but if you want to take a shot on pedigree and upside, and if Manning comes out of his initial start fine, go ahead.
Other option: N/A
Thursday, June 24
Kolby Allard (TEX) vs. OAK 3%
Remember Allard? He was a former top-pitching prospect for Atlanta, who never really matriculated into anything for them. Now with the Rangers, he’s sporting a 2.91 ERA and striking out more than a batter per inning in 34 innings on the season. There may be something here.
Other option: N/A
Friday, June 25
Kris Bubic (KC) at TEX 11%
Bubic just struggled against Oakland his last time out, and he has to make it through Boston before he gets to this start to kick off the weekend. But assuming he’s in the rotation still, it’s a good spot for him against one of the worst offenses in baseball.
Other option: Vladimir Gutierrez (CIN) vs. ATL 28%
Saturday, June 26
Shane McClanahan (TB) vs. LAA 30%
With the Glasnow injury, McClanahan is likely long for the rotation for the rest of the season after all. The Angels have held their own without Mike Trout, but this is coming a day after Shohei Ohtani is scheduled to take the mound, so maybe he’ll catch the lineup at the right time. If you want a safer option, look at Houser below.
Other option: Adrian Houser (MIL) vs. COL 18%
Sunday, June 27
Ross Stripling (TOR) vs. BAL 9%
So yeah, I don’t love streaming a pitcher in a ballpark like Buffalo, but the matchup is great against the Orioles, who haven’t won a road game since John Means’ no-hitter (h/t @JessicaDBrand for the note).
Other option: Eric Lauer (MIL) vs. COL 2%
