Fantasy Baseball Pitching Streamers: Week 19

Fantasy Baseball Pitching Streamers: Week 19

Let’s get right into it this week.

Here’s how I did last week:

  • Touki Toussaint: W 0, L 0, QS 0, ER 3, K 3, BB 2
  • Josiah Gray: N/A
  • Dane Dunning: W 1, L 0, QS 0, ER 1, K 3, BB 2
  • José Suárez: W 1, L 0, QS 0, ER 3, K 6, BB 1
  • Luis Patiño: W 0, L 1, QS 0, ER 3, K 3, BB 2
  • Joe Ross: W 0, L 0, QS 1, ER 3, K 7, BB 2
  • Total: W 2, L 1, QS 1, ER 13, K 22, BB 9

A solid week overall. Ross came up big for us again to give us our only quality start of the week, and it was nice to see Toussaint bounce back from just an absolute terrible outing against the Brewers.

As a reminder, we are looking for pitchers rostered in less than 30 percent of Yahoo leagues. Occasionally a recommendation will exceed that threshold if they are in a particularly favorable streaming situation.

Let’s get to it for Week 18.

Monday, August 9

Zach Thompson (MIA) at SD 30%
On the one hand, recommending a pitcher against the Padres isn’t the wisest move. On the other hand, it’s Thompson or bust as far as eligible streamers for the day. He struggled his last time out, but Thompson has been phenomenal for the Fish besides that one outing. No Fernando Tatís makes it an easier matchup. This is reserved for 15 teams.

Other option: N/A

Tuesday, August 10

Ross Stripling (TOR) vs. LAA 18%
Stripling hurled six shutout innings his last time out against Cleveland, and he attributed his success to his pitching coach, Pete Walker. There’s something special going on with this Toronto team, and at the very least, Stripling will have the run support to put him in a position to get the win as he faces a Mike Trout-less and Anthony Rendon-less Angels team that is once again going to miss the playoffs.

Other option: Matt Harvey (BAL) vs. DET 10%

Wednesday, August 11

Joe Ross (WAS) at NYM 27%
Another outing, another solid showing for Ross. Oddly, he’s only rostered in 27% percent of leagues despite having a solid season if we ignore his outing against the Cubs.

Other option: Cal Quantrill (CLE) vs. OAK 27%

Thursday, August 12

J.T. Brubaker (PIT) vs. STL 18%
Brubaker had a great run to start the season, but he’s been scuffling of late. He’s going against a Cardinals lineup that doesn’t really instill fear in anyone, so he’s worth a stream in deeper leagues.

Other option: N/A

Friday, August 13

Jesús Luzardo (MIA) vs. CHC 32%
I’m breaking the rules a bit here because Luzardo is our best near-eligible streamer. It’s encouraging that the Marlins put him in the rotation right away, and he still has ace upside. He was fine, not great, in his Miami debut, but he gets a depleted Cubs lineup here. I like him in standard leagues.

Other option: N/A

Saturday, August 14

Ryan Pepiot (LAD) at NYM 0%
So I’m not sure this actually happens, but it really caught my eye. Pepiot is one of the most underrated pitching prospects in the minors, and he has a fantastic changeup. Getting the call would be surprising, but he’s worth discussing and using since CBS projects him to get the nod.

Other option: Alec Mills (CHC) at MIA 3% (recommended if Pepiot doesn’t pitch)

Sunday, August 15

Luis Patiño (TB) at MIN 23%
This matchup is perfect for those in daily leagues who can avoid the Boston matchup earlier in the week. Patiño has electric stuff but struggles with command and going deep into games. I like the matchup against the Twins as a get-right game for him, assuming Boston mashes against him.

Other option: Reid Detmers (LAA) vs. HOU 15%
