Gus Edwards Injury: Fantasy Football Rapid Reaction (2021)
We’re back to provide the rapid reaction to the significant injury that Gus Edwards is believed to have sustained and the fantasy football impact on the rest of the Baltimore Ravens’ roster.
The Details of the Injury
Ravens RB Gus Edwards (knee) sustained a potentially significant knee injury in practice today. The team fears it’s a season-ending ACL injury.
How does Gus Edward’s injury impact the Baltimore Ravens?
Dan Harris shares how the injury impacts several Ravens’ running backs:
This is terrible news, obviously, for Edwards and particularly, the Ravens, who see their starting running back sustain a likely season-ending injury for the second time in just a couple of weeks, not to mention the injury to Justice Hill. The obvious beneficiary is Ty’Son Williams, who vaults from an unknown depth chart piece to the likely starter. Baltimore has already added Trenton Cannon and, on the practice squad, Le’Veon Bell and now Devonta Freeman. But Williams impressed in camp and is likely to see a significant role, at least in the short-term. With a probable big workload coming in Week 1 against a soft Raiders defense, Williams moves to my RB21 this week in half-PPR formats with Bell moving to 45. If you’re somehow still drafting, consider Williams a strong RB3 for now for the season (RB29), with Bell slotting in at RB43.
