Derek Brown’s Favorite Dynasty Rookie Draft Targets (2022 Fantasy Football)

We’re going to have you covered throughout dynasty rookie and startup draft season with our 2022 Dynasty Rookie Draft Kit. As part of that offering, we’ll have updated rankings throughout and following the 2022 NFL Draft.

Derek Brown has done a ton of dynasty rookie profiles for the draft hit. Now that the 2022 NFL Draft has passed and some of the dust has settled, he has determined players he’s targeting and avoiding in dynasty rookie drafts. Here’s a look at players he’s targeting.

And check out the players DBro is avoiding in dynasty rookie drafts.

Derek Brown’s Favorite Dynasty Rookie Draft Targets

Skyy Moore (WR – KC)

Pop the champagne and break out the party hats. Skyy Moore landing in Kansas City is a near-perfect outcome. Moore lands on a talented offense with an elite quarterback and an offensive genius. Yes, JuJu Smith-Schuster‘s presence will hurt his projected target upside, but Moore has the talent to emerge as the number two option in this passing offense behind only Travis Kelce. I know I sound ridiculously bullish on Moore, but for a player that converted to wide receiver when he arrived at Western Michigan and then proceeded to post a 91st college dominator rating and soak up a 99th percentile target share, the ceiling is enormous. Moore is a tackle-breaking machine and will be a YAC maven. I’ll draft him aggressively in dynasty rookie drafts not only because of the landing spot but his talent profile warrants it.

Drake London (WR – ATL)

Drake London landing in Atlanta has been my hope all along. London will compete with Kyle Pitts for the team lead in targets immediately. London is a force to be reckoned with after ranking fifth in yards per route run and sixth in missed tackles last year (per PFF). This landing spot allows him to see a boatload of targets from Week 1 and cements him as a top 24 dynasty wide receiver.

Christian Watson (WR – GB)

Senior Bowl standout and combine phenom Christian Watson is officially a cheesehead filling a glaring need for Packer nation at receiver. Watson’s small school and non-early declare status is problematic, but the talent and opportunity are there for him to explode. Watson is competing with Allen Lazard, the Lizard King, Randall Cobb, fourth-round pick Romeo Doubs, and a laundry list of depth chart filler for targets. He’s a moonshot home run swing worth taking in the mid to late first round of drafts tied to a future Hall of Fame quarterback in Aaron Rodgers.

Dameon Pierce (RB – HOU)

Dameon Pierce lands in a wide-open backfield where he’ll compete with the island of misfit running back toys for work. Pierce could earn work immediately with only cast-offs Marlon Mack, Rex Burkhead, Dare Ogunbowale, Royce Freeman, and Darius Anderson on the depth chart. His long-term footing is questionable, with only fourth-round draft capital attached to his name, but he’s worth taking a shot on in the early second round of rookie drafts. Pierce has the size and pass game skills to operate as a three-down back. He can be the preferred passing-down option in a committee at his floor.

Jalen Tolbert (WR – DAL)

Jalen Tolbert dominated small-school competition earning his third-round draft status on the way to big D. Tolbert should be a starter in three-wide sets from Day 1, with stalwart Noah Brown and James Washington as his main competition. Michael Gallup isn’t a sure thing to be ready by Week 1 of this season, so the Cowboys could open the season with Tolbert competing with Dalton Schultz for looks behind CeeDee Lamb. The target totem pole is congested, but landing on a top ten scoring offense with a possible runway to earn early-season volume is a positive.
