Liam Hendriks (forearm) to throw simulated game Friday
MLB.com’s Scott Merkin reported on Twitter that White Sox closer Liam Hendriks is slated to throw a simulated game Friday. (Source: MLB.com)
Fantasy Impact: Hendriks reportedly felt good after Monday’s bullpen session. White Sox manager Tony La Russa said that he hopes his closer can return to the club during this next home stand. Chicago is scheduled to start a seven-game home stand starting Monday vs. Minnesota.
Mookie Betts to resume baseball activities Wednesday
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts is reportedly going to resume baseball activities Wednesday, according to SB Nation’s Eric Stephen on Twitter. (Source: SB Nation)
Fantasy Impact: This is fantastic news for Betts and fantasy managers. The All-Star right fielder was initially reported to potentially return in two weeks back on June 19. That obviously was not the case at all. However, this is the first big step toward a return for Betts. Prior to going on the shelf, the 29-year-old was putting up MVP-type numbers.
Tommy Pham scratched Tuesday with back stiffness
Tommy Pham was a late scratch for Tuesday’s game against the Cubs due to a stiff lower back. Max Schrock replaced him in the lineup. (Source: Mark Sheldon on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: The injury doesn’t sound serious but keep posted. Neither the Reds nor fantasy managers will be happy if Pham goes on the IL as he’s having a nice rebound season. On the year, he’s hitting .254 with 10 HRs, 5 SBs, and 43 runs scored.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. leaves Tuesday’s game with right lower back discomfort
Jazz Chisholm Jr. was removed from Tuesday’s game against the Cardinals with right lower back discomfort. (Source: Jordan McPherson on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Chisholm had missed the last two games with back soreness, so it’s certainly worrisome that he left Tuesday’s contest in the second inning. It’s just discomfort for now, but given that Chisholm has been battling through it for a bit now, the Marlins may look to give him an extended rest. The team should update Chisholm’s status after the game but, for now, consider him day-to-day.
