Mookie Betts not cleared for baseball activity yet

LA Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sunday prior to the game vs. the Braves that Mookie Betts is yet to resume baseball activities, according to Dodgers beat writer Bill Plunkett on Twitter. (Source: Orange County Register)

Fantasy Impact: The initial hope was that Betts would only need two weeks until his return. That is all but impossible at this point. Sometime around or possibly after the All-Star break is a more likely scenario. Knowing the Dodgers plan to make a deep run in the postseason, it would make sense to be cautious.

Brandon Woodruff to return to rotation Tuesday for Brewers

Brewers starter Brandon Woodruff is slated to come off the IL and start for Milwaukee Tuesday, according to MLB.com writer Adam McCalvy on Twitter. (Source: MLB)

Fantasy Impact: Woodruff has been out since late May with an ankle injury. His recovery was dramatically slowed by Raynaud’s syndrome, which caused numbness in his fingers. Prior to heading on the IL, Woodruff was having a rough season to the tune of a 4.74 ERA but did have 53 K’s in 43 2/3 innings.

Yoan Moncada (hamstring) expected to return Tuesday

Chicago White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada (hamstring) is expected to return from the 10-day injured list when he is eligible on Tuesday, according to Vinnie Duber of CHGO Sports. He’ll immediately return to the lineup as the starting third baseman against the Angels. (Source: Vinnie Duber on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Moncada has struggled through 29 games, slashing .179/.230/.292 with three homers, 12 RBI, six walks, and 31 strikeouts. This is the second time that the 27-year-old has required an IL stint this season, though this injury appears to be far less serious than the oblique strain that held him out until mid-May.

Max Scherzer (oblique) to make another rehab start Tuesday

As part of his recovery process, New York Mets starting pitcher Max Scherzer (oblique) will require another rehab start on Tuesday, according to Tim Healey of Newsday. The team was hopeful that he could pitch in the majors on Sunday, but evidently he needs a little more time. (Source: Tim Healey on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Scherzer has been on the injured list since May 21 due to a left oblique strain. He threw 3 1/3 innings in Triple-A last week, allowing two runs, three hits, and one walk while striking out six batters. The prized 37-year-old went 5-1 with a 2.54 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, and .203 OBA in addition to 10.69 K/9 and 1.99 BB/9 through eight starts prior to his injury.
