Fantasy Football Redraft Draft Kit

Jacoby Brissett “expected” to start if Deshaun Watson is suspended

QB Jacoby Brissett is “expected” to be the starter in Cleveland if QB Deshaun Watson sees a long-term suspension, rather than making amends with QB Baker Mayfield, according to Aaron Wilson. (Source: Aaron Wilson, Pro Football Network)

Fantasy Impact: With a Watson suspension looming over the Browns organization, the relationship between Mayfield and the team that drafted him has become “extremely awkward.” Mutual interest between the Seahawks and Mayfield has been reported, but regardless of Mayfield’s situation, the Browns would be “expected” to move forward with Brissett as the team’s starter should Watson see a lengthy suspension. “There is concern from the NFL Players Association” that Watson may face a season-long suspension, in which case, the Browns would trust Brissett to be the team’s starter. In Brissett’s two full seasons starting with the Indianapolis Colts in 2017 and 2019, Brissett finished as a low-end QB2 both years. Brissett is currently being drafted at QB40, according to FantasyPros average draft position, and could potentially see an entire season’s worth of action.

Justin Jefferson excited Vikings “not a run-first offense anymore”

While speaking with NFL Network’s Patrick Clayborn, Minnesota Vikings WR Justin Jefferson said “Our offensive style, it’s not a run first offense anymore. Just us being able to put different people in different positions and distribute the ball, really. I’m so excited in this offense.” (Source: NFL.com)

Fantasy Impact: The Vikings moved on from longtime HC Mike Zimmer after the 2021 season. Under Zimmer, a defensive-minded run-first coach, Jefferson has led the league in receiving since his rookie season in 2020 with 3,016 receiving yards. This offseason the team hired former Rams’ offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell, and with that hiring, the team is expected to transition to a more spread-out pass-friendly offense. Jefferson has been dominant in Zimmers’s offense, but a pass-first Vikings offense could bring his game to new heights. Jefferson is currently ranked as the WR2 according to FantasyPros ECR and he is consistently being selected as a first-round pick. In leagues that start three WRs, he should be an early first-round pick.
