Fantasy Impact: Callaway underwent surgery at the end of the Saints’ 2021 season. He saw an increase in production last year due to the thin nature of the depth chart, catching 46 passes for 698 yards and six touchdowns, good for a WR43 finish. However, heading into 2022, Callaway is due for significant regression now that the Saints brought in free agent Jarvis Landry and rookie Chris Olave. Michael Thomas should return at some point in the first half of the season, too. Callaway can be left on waivers in most fantasy leagues.

Terry McLaurin to sign three-year extension with Commanders

According to a report from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Washington Commanders and WR Terry McLaurin have agreed to a three-year contract extension worth up to $71 million in new money. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Star wide receivers are one of the most sought-after commodities in all of football, and the Commanders are making sure to lock in McLaurin for the foreseeable future. He is one of the lone bright spots on their offense, and he will likely continue to see high usage, which is good for his fantasy value. In 2021, McLaurin played in all 17 games, catching 77 of his 130 targets for 1,053 yards and five touchdowns. In 2022, he will have yet another new QB with whom he’ll have to develop chemistry after Washington acquired Carson Wentz earlier this offseason.

Lamar Jackson added “upwards of 15 pounds” of muscle mass in offseason

Baltimore Ravens star QB Lamar Jackson reportedly showed up to the team’s mandatory June minicamp weighing 220 pounds after gaining upwards of 15 pounds of muscle mass in the offseason. (Source: CBS Sports)

Fantasy Impact: Jackson is an electric playmaker with the ball in his hands, but rushing QBs with slight frames like Jackson always come with durability concerns. Jackson has generally been healthy during his four-year career, but he missed the final four games of the 2021 season with an ankle injury. Jackson has presumably bulked up this offseason to be better equipped to withstand the grind of playing a 17-week NFL season. Although the added weight may help prevent injury, it’s possible that the extra bulk takes away some of the acceleration and change of direction ability that makes him so dangerous as a rusher. Jackson is currently ranked as the QB4 according to FantasyPros ECR and he will likely continue to be drafted as one of the first QBs off the board as we approach the 2022 season.
