Mookie Betts may play second base upon return
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts spoke with reporters Thursday, stating that Mookie Betts could return “early next week” and that he may play second base for a bit to “minimize throwing.” (Source: Fabian Ardaya on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Betts’s timetable for return from a rib injury keeps getting moved earlier, which is good news for fantasy managers. The 29-year-old superstar playing second could also be a boon to managers if he can gain second-base eligibility. You’ll want to check your league’s rules to see how many games are required for this to occur.
Marcus Stroman scheduled to throw a bullpen Friday
Marcus Stroman (right shoulder inflammation) is scheduled to throw his first bullpen Friday. (Source: Maddie Lee on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Stroman pitched in nine games prior to landing on the IL. The veteran starter has a 5.32 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and a 8.56 K/9 ratio this season. He should be on the waiver wire right now based on his production this season.
Jacob deGrom: possible rehab start on tap
The Mets are considering a rehab start for Jacob deGrom on Sunday in Port St. Lucie, per Mike Puma. (Source: Mike Puma on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: deGrom continues to take baby steps toward his return. He threw 27 pitches in a live BP session on Wednesday. A rehab start would be a logical progression in his recovery, and keeps him on track to return in July. All fantasy managers can do for now is play the waiting game.
Seiya Suzuki to begin rehab assignment
Per Tim Stebbins, Seiya Suzuki will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa on Thursday. (Source: Tim Stebbins on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Suzuki has been on the shelf with a left finger sprain since May 26th. Managers will want to plug the Chicago rookie into lineups as soon as they are able. He had a .245/.344/.432 slash line with four homers and three steals before the injury.
