Fantasy Baseball Injury Stash Rankings: Tyler Mahle, Harrison Bader, Domingo German (2022)

Fantasy Baseball Injury Stash Rankings: Tyler Mahle, Harrison Bader, Domingo German (2022)

You’d think that not much has changed since a week ago, given that we just enjoyed the All-Star break. But that’s simply not the case, as there are players who have graduated from this list (Tyler O’Neill, Brandon Lowe, Nathan Eovaldi) and big names who have hit the IL (Mike Trout). Still, it did feel like a lighter week than normal for injuries, so maybe this read won’t too traumatic for anyone.

As always, I’ll give you my top-10 fantasy baseball players to stash right now, and then I’ll get into the weeds a bit at each position.

Top-10 Players to Stash Right Now

1 Yordan Alvarez (OF – HOU)
2 Mike Trout (OF – LAA)
3 Jacob deGrom (SP – NYM)
4 Trevor Story (2B, SS – BOS)
5 Jazz Chisholm Jr. (2B, SS – MIA)
6 Tyler Mahle (SP – CIN)
7 Harrison Bader (OF – STL)
8 Fernando Tatis Jr. (SS, OF – SD)
9 Wander Franco (3B, SS – TB)
10 Bryce Harper (OF – PHI)

Yordan Alvarez is expected to return today (fingers crossed), and Tyler Mahle should rejoin the Reds this weekend against the Cardinals. Harrison Bader’s recent timeline to return was following the All-Star break. If he’s soon over his bout with plantar fasciitis and returns to thieving bases, he’ll be one of the best base stealers in the league over the second half. He was 15-of-17 on steals prior to getting injured, and his career-best 17.8% strikeout rate is promising.

27 Kyle Hendricks (P – CHC)
28 Jack Flaherty (P – STL)
29 Tyler Glasnow (P – TB)
30 Shane Baz (P – TB)

It appears that Domingo German will take Luis Severino’s spot in the rotation for the time being, and he’s a priority add in any format where you need pitching help. Two of my other favorite stashes are Jean Segura and Tyrone Taylor. Segura is a bit obvious given his pace prior to injury, but Taylor is a power/speed guy who was pacing for a career-high in at-bats prior to his concussion, and he can work at all three outfield spots.
