Jameis Winston (foot) avoids significant injury, status is day to day
Jameis Winston sprained his right foot and is labeled as “day to day.” Head coach Dennis Allen does not feel like the injury is anything serious. Winston is expected to miss the preseason opener. (Source: Mike Triplett on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Winston seemingly has avoided any serious down time and should be back for future preseason games. The former Heisman winner is an interesting bounce-back candidate for fantasy in 2022; he averaged the 14th-best FPPG amongst quarterbacks last season; Michael Thomas potentially comes back from two seasons of injury recovery; the front office signed veteran receiver Jarvis Landry, while also acquiring youth by drafting receiver Chris Olave 11th overall. This season Winston will be a solid 2nd quarterback that has a chance to get into the top-12.
Jakeem Grant feared to have torn Achilles
According to Ian Rapoport, Cleveland Browns WR Jakeem Grant, who suffered an injury during practice, is feared to have torn his Achilles. He will have tests to confirm, but the All-Pro returner may be out for the season. (Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Grant earned his second consecutive All-Pro nod as a returner last season playing for both the Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins. Although Grant has never been super involved in the passing game over his career, the Browns were reportedly interested in giving him a bigger role, according to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe. The Browns don’t have someone to match Grant’s dynamism but could turn toward WR Anthony Schwartz and his speed, who is also recovering from an injury.
David Moore goes down with leg injury
According to Chris Emma of 670 The Score, Chicago Bears WR David Moore went down with a leg injury that’s believed to be serious. Moore was carted off the field. (Source: Chris Emma on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: The Bears have had bad injury luck at WR over the last week, losing N’Keal Harry to a high-ankle sprain and Byron Pringle to a quad injury. Moore has seen solid production in his five-year career, having had two separate 400-plus yard, five-plus touchdown seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. The Bears’ already-thin receiving crew took another hit as Moore proceeds to get further evaluation.
Jason Kelce undergoing elbow surgery
Philadelphia Eagles C Jason Kelce is undergoing surgery with an estimated return of two-to-four weeks, likely in time for the team’s regular-season opener, according to Jeff McLane of Phila Inquirer. (Source: Jeff McLane on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Kelce has been one of the league’s premier centers for the last half-decade, earning First-Team All-Pro nods in four of his last five seasons. His return is good news for QB Jalen Hurts, as he looks to further ascend in 2022. If Kelce were to miss time, the team may turn to rookie C Cam Jurgens.
