Tim Patrick suffers season-ending ACL injury

According to Mike Klis of 9News, an MRI on WR Tim Patrick confirms an ACL injury, ending his season. (Source: Mike Klis on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Patrick was a popular late-round target for fantasy managers as he has been one of the most sneakily productive WRs over the last few seasons. Patrick had back-to-back 700-yard seasons with five-plus touchdowns while racking in nearly 14 yards per catch and finishing as WR39 and WR40 the last two seasons. He will have to wait until 2023 to pair up with QB Russell Wilson as he recovers from his ACL tear.

Michael Carter dealing with minor ankle injury

Jets RB Michael Carter is dealing with a minor ankle injury that is limiting him at training camp. (Source: Zack Rosenblatt)

Fantasy Impact: Carter is reportedly dealing with an ankle injury that is affecting some of his reps at camp. It is considered minor, so this shouldn’t cause much concern for fantasy managers. The situation in New York is something to monitor, however, with RB’s Breece Hall and Michael Carter fighting for the #1 spot.

Irv Smith Jr. underwent surgery on injured thumb today

Vikings TE Irv Smith Jr. suffered a thumb injury in practice yesterday that led to his surgery today. HC Kevin O’Connell expects him to be ready to play in the regular season. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Smith missed the entirety of the 2021 season with a torn meniscus, but prior to suffering that injury was receiving buzz as a breakout candidate following the departure of long-time Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph. If Smith is healthy in the regular season he may have a chance to outperform his ADP of TE 15, thanks to a promising passing offense schemed by first-year HC Kevin O’Connell. Assuming the latest surgery is in fact minor, he is best suited as a backup TE in most formats who is worth a roster spot in fantasy football’s thinnest position.

Skyy Moore leaves practice early with hip injury

Chiefs rookie WR Sky Moore left Tuesday’s practice early due to a hip injury he sustained. (Source: Matt McMullen on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Moore sustained the injury in the middle of practice Tuesday, and he wasn’t able to return. It doesn’t seem to be serious, and he essentially confirmed that via social media. It would be less than ideal for him to miss a couple practices, but if the injury isn’t serious, this shouldn’t change much for his outlook.

Marquise Brown activated from NFI list

The Arizona Cardinals have activated WR Marquise “Hollywood” Brown from the NFI list, which he was placed on this past Tuesday after injuring his hamstring in private workouts, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. (Source: Ian Rapoport via Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: As expected, Brown has been activated from the NFI list shortly after being placed on it last week. Currently coming off the board as the WR #23 according to FantasyPros ADP, Brown is in line to receive a massive target share in this Arizona Cardinals pass-heavy offense and will have the opportunity to reward fantasy managers with a lofty return on investment, especially early on with Deandre Hopkins serving a six-game suspension to start the season.
