Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels squashed any speculation that the team has been or is currently shopping running back Josh Jacobs according to RaidersNation.com’s Vincent Bonsignore. (Source: Vincent Bonsignore on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Rumors have been popping up that Las Vegas was trying to move Jacobs via trade but, for now anyways, those rumors have been put to rest by McDaniels. The Alabama product rushed for 30 yards on five carries and caught two balls for an additional 14 yards in the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday night. Jacobs finished 2021 with 872 rushing yards on 217 carries (4.0 ypc) and nine rushing touchdowns. He added another 348 receiving yards on 54 catches out of the backfield. Jacobs is backed up on the depth chart by the Raiders’ 2022 4th Round pick, Zamir White, and Kenyan Drake, it didn’t make much sense to move the clear bell cow back unless he has become a lockerroom cancer which there is no evidence of. Jacobs’ situation is one to monitor as the preseason goes on, but draft him with expectations of hi being in Vegas, and being the primary back.
Kenneth Gainwell to challenge Miles Sanders in high leverage spots. Gainwell “seems to be penciled in for high-leverage” work. (Source: John McMullen)
Fantasy Impact: If Gainwell does indeed take goal-line and/or pass-catching work in the Eagles’ offense, he could put together a very solid fantasy season. The Eagles’ offense is much improved and their run offense is maybe their greatest strength. Gainwell’s stock continues to rise and he should be drafted as a legitimate fantasy football sleeper in 2022, who could well outperform his ADP.
Browns RB Kareem Hunt, who was ‘holding in’ because of a contract issue, has returned to practice in full. (Source: Mary Cabot on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Hunt has requested either a trade or a new contract, but the team isn’t inclined to give him either for the time being and he has returned to practice. There may still be some tensions, but as long as he is practicing, there shouldn’t be much of an issue for fantasy. Hunt likely won’t get traded, and he will continue to act as the receiving back behind Nick Chubb for this offense.
Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown is already forming a strong connection with his new quarterback Jalen Hurts according to ProFootballNetwork.com’s Mike Kaye. (Source: Mike Kaye, ProFootballNetwork.com)
Fantasy Impact: A.J. Brown has taken advantage of teammates DeVonta Smith and Greg Ward nursing injuries in camp and developed a rapport with Jalen Hurts, on and off the field. The two hooked up on a 30-yard touchdown pass that culminated in a diving grab by Brown giving the raucous practice crowd another reason to cheer this preseason. The two have repeatedly connected in training camp and practice and fantasy managers hope it foreshadows high flying fantasy seasons for both players. If the connection can translate to the regular season, A.J. Brown has a legitimate shot at finishing WR1.
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts showed off improved vision and accuracy so far in training camp according to ProFootballNetwork.com’s Mike Kaye. (Source: Mike Kaye, ProFootballNetwork.com)
Fantasy Impact: Hurts showed improved vision and accuracy across the middle at Sunday’s practice, finding wide receiver Quez Watkins and tight end Dallas Goedert in the middle of the field in the final drills of the day. Hurts and reportedly shown more poise and confidence in the pocket so far during training camp. Hurts has also developed a strong rapport with new Eagle A.J. Brown and he is still the shifty and speedy quarterback with a nose for the end zone he has always been. All of this could translate into Hurts being the fantasy QB1 he is being drafted as in many leagues this season, especially those that reward rushing touchdowns more than passing touchdowns.
