Through two weeks, James Conner has been disappointing to fantasy owners that drafted him as their high-end RB2 or even low-end RB1. So far this season, the Cardinals running back has totaled just 51 rushing yards on 17 attempts. A minor reason for these numbers is that he left Week 2’s matchup with the Raiders early due to an ankle injury. Unfortunately for fantasy managers, that ankle injury has continued to impact Conner throughout the week in practice and has left his status for Week 3 unknown. So will the Cardinals be without their RB1 this week against the Rams? Here’s what we know.

James Conner (ankle) to be a game-time decision Sunday
Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury said James Conner will be a game-time decision ahead of Sunday’s game against the Rams.
Fantasy Impact
After leaving the game early last week against the Raiders, Conner missed practice on Wednesday before returning on Thursday. He would appear to have a decent shot of playing after practicing, but it is far from a guarantee. He is a bit risky for managers playing in the second slate of games on Sunday. If Conner is sidelined, Darrel Williams and Eno Benjamin would likely share the lead role.

What the Experts are Saying
Conner suffered an ankle injury in Week 2, but reports are “positive” out of the Cardinals coaching staff. I however am less optimistic that an inefficient rusher like Conner will post strong RB1 production if he is not 100%. And ankle injuries tend to limit RB efficiency.
-Andrew Erickson
Conner had only 51 yards from scrimmage last week and he has a tough matchup against a Rams D that is 4th against fantasy backs. Conner is a low-upside RB2 at home this week.
