After leaving Week 1 early due to a hamstring injury, Keenan Allen missed Week 2’s matchup with Kansas City. This week, with an appealing fantasy matchup against Jacksonville, the 30-year-old wideout is questionable after not practicing on Friday. Will Allen be ready for the home game against the Jaguars? And, if he is, do fantasy managers want to insert him into their lineups? Here’s where things stand.

Keenan Allen is in limbo for Week 3
Keenan Allen (hamstring) did not practice on Friday and is officially listed as questionable heading into Week 3. Head coach Brandon Staley said that he views Allen as “50-50” for Sunday’s contest.
Fantasy Impact
Allen hauled in all four of his targets for 66 yards before exiting in Week 1. He did not play last Thursday, and it appears his status remains in doubt for this coming Sunday. The fact that he did not practice Friday is concerning. Fantasy managers invested in Allen’s availability should check back Sunday for official confirmation on his status.

What the Experts are Saying
Initial reports of a mild hamstring strain made Allen a likely go for Week 3 at ~90% of his prior form. Still, the fact that he missed practice Friday means either a setback or an initial understatement of the injury severity. The most common trend we’d see here is 3 limited practices in a row before return to game action, so Friday’s DNP takes his SMA projection from a 75% chance of playing down to slightly below 50%. That, combined with the uncertainty around the Herbert injury, means that Allen will be a highly volatile player this week. Either way, we wouldn’t expect his absence to last much longer, as 3 weeks is the typical timeline for most WR hamstrings.

Allen’s hamstring injury was not believed to be serious, he should be an upside WR2 against the Jags 22nd ranked fantasy defense if he is able to go this week.
