Will Alvin Kamara Play in Week 4? (2022 Fantasy Football)

It’s no secret that Alvin Kamara is off to a slow start in 2022, averaging just 6.2 fantasy points per game in Half-PPR formats. Although fantasy owners are surely disappointed in his lack of production so far, some of it may be due to a nagging rib injury that he seems to have been dealing with all season. Despite the rough going so far, Kamara could be in for more success this week with injuries to QB Jameis Winston and WR Michael Thomas leaving them out for the week. However, will the running back himself suit up in Week 4? Here’s what we know.

Alvin Kamara (ribs) listed as questionable for Week 4

Alvin Kamara (ribs) is officially questionable for the Saints’ Week 4 matchup with the Vikings.

Fantasy Impact

Kamara has been a limited participant in practice leading into Week 4. The rib injury did cause Kamara to miss Week 2, but he was able to log 73 total yards in Week 3. If Kamara does not suit up in London, fantasy managers should expect Mark Ingram and Dwayne Washington to see additional touches in Week 4.

What the Experts are Saying

After missing a week, Kamara returned with 17 touches and 73 total yards while playing a season-high 70% of the snaps. He handled 68.2% of the team’s carries and saw a 17.9% target share (61.9% route per dropback rate). Kamara is in a smash spot this week. Minnesota has been swiss cheese against the run with the fifth-highest success rate and ninth-highest EPA allowed. They are also fourth-highest in explosive run rate and seventh in receptions allowed to running backs. Kamara is a strong RB1 in Week 4 with additional receiving upside to boot because of injuries to both Michael Thomas and Jameis Winston.

-Derek Brown

Kamara has scored only 12 fantasy points in his two games this year. He is an RB2 against a Vikings D that is 29th against fantasy running backs this year but needs to take advantage of matchups like this if he is going to remain fantasy relevant.
