Fantasy Football Injury Updates

Matthew Stafford misses second practice

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, QB Matthew Stafford missed his second practice in a row for the Los Angeles Rams.

Fantasy Impact

Stafford entered concussion protocol and seems to be on track to miss this week’s game against the Cardinals. Friday should show whether or not he will play. If not, QB John Wolford will be in line to start. The Rams’ offense has struggled too, so it’s hard to recommend any non-Cooper Kupp players this weekend.

Dameon Pierce (chest/shoulder) limited in Thursday’s practice

Dameon Pierce was limited in practice on Thursday with chest and shoulder injuries.

Fantasy Impact

This was the second straight day that Pierce was limited with his injuries, but there’s been no indication yet that his status for Sunday’s game against the Giants is in jeopardy. He rushed for 139 yards on 27 carries against the Eagles last week so, chances are, the Texans are just taking it easy with their bell cow running back. Absent news to the contrary, expect him to suit up against a surprising Giants defense that has been tough on opposing running backs.

Ezekiel Elliott (knee) limited at Thursday’s practice

Ezekiel Elliott was limited during the Cowboys’ practice on Thursday with a knee injury.

Fantasy Impact

Elliott has now practiced on back to back days, albeit in a limited fashion, which is certainly a good sign for his availability against Green Bay this weekend. Even if he does suit up, it’s unlikely that he’d get a full complement of touches, both in light of his injury and because of Tony Pollard’s monstrous performance against the Bears in Week 8. Elliott should be considered more of a flex play than an RB2 this weekend, though he’s perfectly startable with those reduced expectations if he does play.

David Njoku (ankle) misses practice again on Thursday

David Njoku did not participate in the Browns’ practice on Thursday because of an ankle injury.

Fantasy Impact

Although Njoku himself expressed optimism on his status earlier this week, it seems highly unlikely that he’ll be able to suit up on Sunday against the Dolphins. He’ll almost certainly need at least a limited practice on Friday, so monitor the reports. If he does play, he’d make an excellent option against a Miami team that allows the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends. If he is inactive, Harrison Bryant will make a Hail Mary play and cheap DFS punt option.
