Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups: Tight End Streamers (Week 11)

Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups: Tight End Streamers (Week 11)

The tight end position matters greatly in fantasy football. They are not as flashy as their blazing-fast, route-running counterparts at wide receiver. They do not get the same volume of touches as fantasy-relevant running backs. That can sometimes lead to them being overlooked or treated as an afterthought. Do not make that mistake.

Tight end is the shallowest position of them all. Finding production there every week can be incredibly challenging, especially for those that did not draft or since manage to land one of the top handful of options.

Success can be found at the position by carefully playing the waiver wire week-to-week. The goal here is to help fantasy managers do just that by finding low-rostered (under 75 percent) tight ends sitting in the best situations for the particular week.

David Njoku (TE – CLE) – 71% Rostered

The Browns held David Njoku out of Week 10, despite Njoku saying on Wednesday he expected to play. Now Njoku will instead return for one of the toughest matchups he could face, against a Buffalo Bills defense that allows the fewest fantasy points to opposing tight ends. With that said, volume can be king at the tight end position, and if the Browns are playing from behind, then Njoku can expect to see a healthy amount of targets. In Njoku’s last five games, he averages seven targets per game and has gone over 70 receiving yards in all but one. In the seven games Njoku played, he has three top-six PPR finishes and two more inside of the top 18. Even if he sits on your bench for this week, Njoku should prove valuable in the coming weeks.

Greg Dulcich (TE – DEN) – 66% Rostered

After three impressive weeks, Greg Dulcich headed into his bye week just as any hype around him got going. Dulcich made his debut in Week 6 and scored 36.2 PPR points in that and the two games that followed, making him the PPR TE3 in that period before crashing down to earth against the Titans, who held him to one catch for 11 yards as the Broncos offense stuttered and spluttered despite having come off a bye week. Fortunately for Dulcich, he gets a Week 11 matchup with the Raiders, who allow the ninth-most fantasy points to the position and is in as much disarray as the Broncos, if not more.

Hayden Hurst (TE – CIN) – 49% Rostered

The Bengals bye week came at a time when they looked the most impressive with their Week 9 domination of the Carolina Panthers. The offense seems to be finally clicking, which can only stand to benefit all of the weapons, including Hayden Hurst, who has quietly been the TE8 on the season with four top-12 performances this season. Hurst plays the Steelers in Week 11, who have allowed at least five receptions to the TE1 of their opponents in back-to-back games, with both Juwan Johnson and Dallas Goedert having solid performances against them. Even if Ja’Maar Chase returns to the lineup Hurst is still a fine stream for this Bengals offense looking to get hot at the right time.

Trey McBride (TE – ARI) – 0% Rostered

Zach Ertz suffered a season-ending knee injury against the Rams, and Trey McBride stepped in and set a career-high in snaps (91%). McBride will have every chance to be the TE1 in an offense that has targeted tight ends on 19% of passing plays.

The Cardinals face a tough game against the Niners in Week 11, who allow the seventh-fewest points to the position, but if you can afford to stash McBride, we might get a glimpse of how he’ll be used ahead of friendly matchups in the fantasy playoffs.
