Will Gus Edwards Play in Week 12? (2022 Fantasy Football)

Gus Edwards showed off his potential brilliance in Week 7 when he finished as RB6 with 66 yards and two touchdowns. Unfortunately, his knee injury sent him back to the shelf in Week 9, leading to two missed games. There is optimism that Edwards will be ready for Baltimore’s tilt against Jacksonville this weekend. So will Gus Edwards play in Week 12? And if he does, is he worth a start? Here’s where things stand.

Gus Edwards (knee) questionable to face Jaguars

Gus Edwards was listed as questionable with a knee injury for Week 12 on the Ravens’ Friday injury report.

Fantasy Impact

Edwards has missed the past two games with the injury but has a good shot to return on Sunday after logging full practices each of the past two days. His return will cut into Kenyan Drake‘s workload, and the two backs will likely revert to shared opportunities. It is difficult to recommend Edwards as a starting fantasy option, even in Baltimore’s continuous run-heavy approach.

What the Experts Are Saying

Edwards practiced in full on Thursday and Friday. He has been listed as questionable. In his two active games, he’s averaged 28% of the snaps with 13.5 rushing attempts and 65.5 rushing yards. It’s a small sample of 27 carries, but when active Edwards has been extremely efficient. Among all running backs with at least 25 carries he ranked second in yards after contact per attempt and first in PFF’s elusive rating. Since Week 6, the Jaguars are 15th in rushing yards per game, 13th in EPA per rush, and 20th in explosive run rate allowed. Edwards is an RB3 with upside for more if he gets into the endzone this week.

Expect Edwards to play in Week 12. Running backs returning from hamstring injuries play at 90% of pre-injury production levels.
