4 Fantasy Football Bold Predictions: Week 14 (2022)

“Virtue is bold, and goodness never fearful.”
-William Shakespeare

It’s time for weekly bold predictions.

The point here is that if you follow the consensus, you’re probably going to have a good team. But in order to go from good to great, you have to take some chances. You have to do your homework and figure out where you can zig when the rest of your league (or at least your opponent this week) zags. In short, you need to know how and when to be bold.

We asked our analysts to provide a bold prediction for Week 14. Their answers and justifications are below.

Week 13 Bold Predictions

Russell Wilson throws multiple TDs to Jerry Jeudy vs. the KC Chiefs
2022 has been nothing but a total disaster for the Denver Broncos offense. But quietly, over the last 3 weeks, Wilson has graded out as PFF’s 6th-highest-graded passer. His slightly improved hasn’t translated into anything fantasy-relevant, but that changes against an extremely beatable Chiefs defense that ranks second-worst in passing TD % and third-worst in red-zone defense. Jerry Jeudy was targeted on 40% of his route run last week in the absence of Courtland Sutton, making him a sure-fire lock to see the most volume from Russ in the plus-matchup.

Elijah Moore leads the Jets in receiving yards in Week 14, posting a 100-yard day with a touchdown
This could be the monster game we have been waiting for all season for Moore. Last week his route run rate climbed, and he was a full-time player in the offense. He’ll run about 71% of his routes against easily the best corner matchup on the board versus the Bills, Taron Johnson. Johnson has struggled this season, with a 73.2% catch rate and 111.3 passer rating (per PFF). The talent didn’t disappear overnight. Moore will make people remember this week.

George Pickens will produce 100+ yards and a touchdown against the Ravens
We’ve seen how talented George Pickens is. He’s made some circus catches this season and has at times looked like a discount D.K. Metcalf. The one thing Pickens has not done in an otherwise impressive rookie season is consistently draw targets. He hasn’t seen more than six targets in a game since Week 5. That changes this week. Pickens was visiably upset about not getting more action last week against the team he grew up rooting for, the Falcons, in the state where he played in college, Georgia. This is going to be a “squeaky wheel” game for Pickens. He’ll get eight or more targets (maybe 10 or more if the banged-up Diontae Johnson is unable to play), and he’ll get 100+ yards and a touchdown despite a tricky matchup against the Ravens and their fine pair of outside cornerbacks, Marlon Humphrey and Marcus Peters.

Chigoziem Okonkwo will be the No. 1 fantasy tight end in Week 14
Blessed with an elite combination of size (6’3? and 238 pounds) and speed (4.52-second 40-yard dash), Okonkwo as a rookie has flashed electric playmaking ability (11.0 yards per target), and among all qualified tight ends he’s No. 1 in the league with 2.75 yards per route (per PFF). The Jaguars are No. 31 in defensive pass DVOA against tight ends (34.1%), and Okonkwo could see extra targets without No. 1 WR Treylon Burks (concussion), who seems unlikely to play after exiting last week early with an injury. With a great matchup and amplified opportunity, he could put up WR type of numbers.
