Will Leonard Fournette Play in Week 13? (2022 Fantasy Football)

by Luke Monaldo
Dec 3, 2022

Leonard Fournette was forced to miss Tampa Bay’s Week 12 matchup with the Browns due to a hip injury, and that injury has lingered into his practice ahead of Week 13. When he was out, rookie Rachaad White filled in nicely against Cleveland. The Buccaneers have a big matchup against the divisional rival Saints, and they need a win to stay atop the NFC South. Having Fournette suit up and return to the backfield would be a huge boost for the offense. The question is: Will he? Here’s the latest we have.

Leonard Fournette (hip) officially questionable to play Monday

Leonard Fournette (hip) is officially listed as questionable to play in Monday night’s game against the New Orleans Saints.

Fantasy Impact

Fournette had to miss Week 12’s game due to a hip injury, and his availability for Week 13 is also up in the air. He was able to practice in full all week, so there’s a lot of optimism surrounding his status for Monday. If he plays, that will mean less work for rookie Rachaad White, who took over the backfield in his absence last week.

What the Experts are Saying

Fournette could return this week. If he’s active he should return to his lead-back role. In Weeks 1-9 Fournette averaged 18.1 touches and 79.9 total yards. Fournette is 12th in weighted opportunities, 11th in snap share, and 13th in opportunity share. He’s also 16th in evaded tackles and 27th in juke rate. The Saints’ run defense isn’t one to feat this year. They are 20th in rushing yards per game, 21st in EPA per rush, and 19th in explosive run rate allowed since Week 7. Fournette is an RB1 if active.
