I’ll run through each skill position (QB, RB, WR, TE), laying out draft strategy, tiers, statistical analysis, and scouting reports. Let’s dive into this exciting rookie class.
How to Approach Wide Receivers in Dynasty Rookie Drafts
The approach with wide receivers in the different formats is unchanged. The only difference is in SuperFlex, wide receivers will get pushed down the board, some with quarterbacks going early and ahead of them at times. Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Jordan Addison, and Quentin Johnston will be drafted in the first round of rookie drafts and in the NFL Draft. Zay Flowers could easily hop into the top 32 selections in the NFL Draft, putting him in the first-round conversation for dynasty rookie drafts. My Tier 3 & 4 wide receivers will see their rookie draft ADPs rise or fall based on where they go in the NFL Draft, so they could all rise into solid second-round dynasty rookie draft picks or dip to the third round.
Dynasty Rookie Draft Positional Rankings & Tiers
Tier 1
- Jaxon Smith-Njigba
- Jordan Addison
Analysis: Each of these wide receivers should have substantial first-round NFL draft capital and profile as high target share earners in NFL passing offenses.
Tier 2
- Zay Flowers
- Quentin Johnston
Analysis: Flowers could easily be in Tier 1, but his draft capital is up in the air. If I knew he was a locked-in first-rounder, he would be in Tier 1. Like Johnston, he has a wider range of outcomes than the top two wideouts.
Tier 3
Analysis: Each of these wide receivers has flashed high-end talent in college with several analytical boxes checked. All of these players also could hear their names called sometime during Day 2 of the NFL Draft.
Tier 4
Analysis: This group is a mixed bag of analytical darlings with size and/or draft-capital questions. Each of these players could sneak into Day 2 of the NFL Draft or drop to the top of Day 3.
