Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Pickups & Advice: Week 21 (2023)

It’s Thursday. You know what that means.

It’s time for another look at the waiver wire to find players that you can add for short-term and long-term success.

We’ll look at players that you should consider picking up who are rostered in four different rostership tiers:

  • 50-60%
  • 30-49%
  • 15-29%
  • 0-14%

What’s more, we’ll give you a breakdown of how many games each team has for the upcoming week so that you can maximize the minutes of your streamers.

Without further delay, let’s get to it, starting with the schedule of games being played for next week.

Week 21 Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Advice

Four games:

ATL, BKN, CHA, CHI, DAL, GSW, HOU, IND, MEM, OKC, PHI, SAC, SAS, UTA, WAS

Three games:

BOS, CLE, LAC, LAL, MIL, MIN, NOP, NYK, ORL, PHX, POR, TOR

Two games:

DEN, DET, MIA

Rostered in 50-60% of leagues:

Kelly Olynyk (PF/C – UTA)

After running into a midseason dry spell after a hot start, Olynyk is back on the fantasy radar. He’s posted top-80 numbers over the last two weeks, which included hitting double digits in points in five straight contests. What’s more for Olynyk, he has four games on the schedule, which makes him a priority add in the final week(s), depending on your league setup.

Kevon Looney (C – GSW)

Spoiler alert for the category analysis piece — Looney is likely to appear there, too. He remains under-rostered despite being a key rebounder for fantasy purposes. The Warriors have four games on the schedule next week — and three the following week — making Looney a solid rest-of-season add.

Rostered in 30-49% of leagues:

Xavier Tillman (PF/C – MEM)

Have you noticed a trend yet? We are trying to maximize volume with the season coming to an end. That’s another reason we will target Tillman for a second straight week. He’s offered modest — not great — production, but it’s been enough to hover around the top-100 mark while Steven Adams remains out.

Jalen Suggs (PG/SG – ORL)

It hasn’t been the best start to his career for the second-year guard out of Gonzaga, but he’s been showing some promising flashes of late. Despite only having two games on the schedule this past week, he’s still putting up top-87 numbers over the last 14 days thanks in part to his 13 points, 2.7 assists, and 2.2 steals.

Rostered in 15-29% of leagues:

Isaiah Jackson (PF/C – IND)

Am I ready to be hurt again? Absolutely. The Pacers have been resting Myles Turner of late, which has allowed Jackson to actually see the court. And what do you know? He’s producing! He’s a monster defensively, contributing much-needed STOCKs and pulling down a double-double two games ago. With four games on the schedule, I’m rolling the dice with him again.

Kris Dunn (PG/SG – UTA)

Dunn was signed to a rest-of-season contract, which means that silly season continues in Utah. Dunn, unexpectedly, has been a top-65 player over the last calendar month for the Jazz. He also has four games on the schedule for next week, as he looks to build on his counting numbers from the last month.

Rostered in 0-14% of leagues:

Jaden Hardy (PG – DAL)

Hardy is going to be a really, really good scorer in this league, and we’ve seen flashes of it over the last week or so while the Mavericks deal with injuries to their two stars. Hardy has gone for at least 22 points in three straight games, but the FG% is absolutely brutal. It depends on your build if you can handle that hit or not.

Jordan Nwora (SF/PF – IND)

Is this a thing? He’s been a top-150 player over the last two weeks, but I’ve been hesitant to buy him as a pick-up. He does have four games on the schedule, which is a plus, and he’s been in double figures in every game dating back to Feb. 25. It’s all about volume and opportunity at this point in the season. He’s providing both.
