Thursday’s Starting Pitcher Rankings (8/27)
Jacob Misiorowski has been the best pitcher in MLB this year. Period. According to FanGraphs, among 53 qualified pitchers in 2026, Misiorowski is tied for seventh in wins (13), tied for sixth in quality starts (16), first in ERA (1.68), first in xERA (1.99), first in xFIP (2.10), first in SIERA (2.14), first in WHIP (0.76) and first in strikeout rate (39.3%). He’s putting together an otherworldly campaign.
The flame-throwing righty has a decent matchup and superb betting info tonight. The Mets are tied for 22nd in wRC+ (95) with a 22.3% strikeout rate versus righties and 25th in wRC+ (96) with a 22.2% strikeout rate at home in 2026.
New York is fifth in wRC+ (109) with a 23.2% strikeout rate in the previous 30 days and eighth in wRC+ (110) with a 22.8% strikeout rate in the last 14 days, though. Still, the Brewers are -220 favorites, and the game’s total is seven runs.
Gerrit Cole is white-hot. He has logged the following numbers in his previous five starts spanning 30.2 innings:
- 4 wins
- 4 quality starts
- 1.47 ERA
- 2.91 xERA
- 3.18 xFIP
- 3.29 SIERA
- 1.01 WHIP
- 6.6% walk rate
- 28.1% strikeout rate
- 10.8% SwStr%
- 31.2% CSW%
- 103 stuff+
- 104 location+
- 103 pitching+
Cole’s matchup isn’t particularly enticing, but his betting info is OK. The Astros are tied for sixth in wRC+ (106) with a 21.9% strikeout rate versus righties and tied for fourth in wRC+ (104) with a 20% strikeout rate on the road this year.
Houston is also tied for sixth in wRC+ (106) with a 22.1% strikeout rate in the previous 30 days, but they’re 22nd in wRC+ (92) with a 25.1% strikeout rate in the last 14 days. The Yankees are -155 favorites, and the game’s total is 8.5 runs.
Noah Cameron has been arguably even hotter than Cole. In his last five starts, totaling 35.2 innings, the lefty has amassed the following marks:
- 3 wins
- 3 quality starts
- 1 shutout
- 1.26 ERA
- 1.89 xERA
- 3.88 xFIP
- 3.96 SIERA
- 0.62 WHIP
- 7.1% walk rate
- 22% strikeout rate
- 12.7% SwStr%
- 26.2% CSW%
- 99 stuff+
- 107 location+
- 111 pitching+
Cameron has a dreamy matchup tonight and acceptable betting info. The Blue Jays are tied for dead last in wRC+ (80) with a 20.9% strikeout rate versus lefties and 26th in wRC+ (94) with a 20.2% strikeout rate at home this season.
Toronto is also 20th in wRC+ (96) with an 18.8% strikeout rate in the previous 30 days and ninth in wRC+ (109) with an 18.3% strikeout rate in the last 14 days. The Royals are slight favorites (-115), and the game’s total is 8.5 runs.
Suggested Lineup Stacks
The Yankees have a relatively tasty matchup tonight. Hayden Wesneski has a 4.23 ERA, 3.82 xERA, 4.49 xFIP and 4.55 SIERA in five starts this season. The righty has yielded a .329 wOBA to 55 right-handed batters and held 58 left-handed batters to a .284 wOBA.
However, Wesneski has ceded a .322 wOBA to 442 left-handed batters faced in his career while holding 596 right-handed batters to a .296 wOBA. Ultimately, I trust the larger sample and prefer to stack New York’s left-handed batters and switch-hitters, of which there are seven in the Bronx Bombers’ projected lineup.
Spencer Arrighetti has been battered to the tune of a 4.73 ERA, 5.11 xERA, 5.00 xFIP and 4.72 SIERA in 17 starts and one relief appearance this year. The 26-year-old righty has been tough on right-handed batters, holding them to a .263 wOBA. The 234 left-handed batters who’ve faced him have hammered him for a .364 wOBA, though.
The Royals can take advantage of the matchup. Moreover, they have several value-salaried players to stack, which is critical for opening up cap space to roster Jacob Misiorowski.

Core Studs
- Luis Garcia Jr. has smashed 28 homers with 59 runs, 87 RBI, four stolen bases, a .320 on-base percentage (OBP), .275 ISO, .375 wOBA and 137 wRC+ in 453 plate appearances this year.
- Jac Caglianone has belted 15 bombs with a .344 OBP, .220 ISO, .363 wOBA and 131 wRC+ in 326 plate appearances against righties this season.
- Trent Grisham has hit 50 homers with a .334 OBP, .231 ISO, .344 wOBA and 122 wRC+ in 921 plate appearances against righties since 2024.
Value Plays/Punts
- Spencer Jones has mashed seven taters with 21 runs, 23 RBI, eight stolen bases, a .312 OBP, .192 ISO, .321 wOBA and 105 wRC+ in 186 plate appearances in his rookie season.
- While New York’s left-handed batters are my favorite stacking options, George Lombard Jr. is an appealing punt-priced selection. He has hit two homers with 12 runs, six RBI, one stolen base, a .320 OBP, .103 ISO, .305 wOBA and 94 wRC+ in his first 75 plate appearances in the Majors. Those marks aren’t spectacular by any stretch of the imagination, but they’re adequate for his salary.
- Andrew Vaughn has ripped 10 round-trippers with a .383 OBP, .177 ISO, .378 wOBA and 146 wRC+ in 393 plate appearances against southpaws since 2024.
