Biggest Risers

Abner Uribe (RP – MIL) | Previous: Injured List; Current: 14

Abner Uribe returned from the injured list (IL) on Monday and picked up two holds with three strikeouts in his first two innings. He hasn’t been quite as dominant as he was last season, but he’s been a valuable bullpen arm. In 50.1 innings this season, he has a 1.97 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 9.1 K/9 with 26 saves plus holds. He’s done a phenomenal job at limiting hard contact and is one of the best pitchers in the league at inducing groundballs.

Brent Headrick (RP – NYY) | Previous: Unranked; Current: 39

Brent Headrick has been solid but not great for the Yankees. Since Fernando Cruz landed on the IL, Headrick has picked up three holds in a row. On the season, he has a 1.93 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 11.2 K/9 over 70 innings. The Yankees are in second place in the American League and need someone who can bridge the gap between starter and David Bednar, who’s been awesome.

Biggest Fallers

Alex Vesia (RP – LAD) | Previous: 24; Current: Unranked

Alex Vesia has just one hold since August 1st. He hasn’t been at his best during that span, but he hasn’t been a total disaster either. In 11.2 innings since the beginning of August, he has a 4.63 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 6.2 K/9 while giving up six walks and two homers. The Dodgers are gluttonous with pitching options and haven’t used him in the same capacity as before.

Daniel Palencia (RP – CHC) | Previous: 33; Current: Unranked

Daniel Palencia returned from injury and has really struggled. In four games since returning, he’s allowed six runs, including two homers, while striking out five over 3.1 innings. His last save or hold came all the way back on May 14th, and the Cubs may just stick with Jacob Webb to close out the year.
