Biggest Risers
Emilio Pagan (RP – CIN) | Previous: 29; Current:21
Emilio Pagan is one of four pitchers with nine saves plus holds in the last month. Since being activated from the injured list (IL) on June 30th, he’s posted a 2.38 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, 10.3 K/9 and 16 saves. He’s improved his strikeout rate during that stretch and lowered his walk rate to a career-low if he were to keep it up for a full season.
Pagan was ninth in the league with 34 saves plus holds in 2025, and spent the first month of this season in the top 20 before his injury. It’s fair to question how many more wins the Reds have in the tank, but Pagan looks poised to finish the season strong.
Brent Headrick (RP – NYY) | Previous: 39; Current: 30
Brent Headrick is another leader at the position over the last month, but his excellent play has been consistent all season. His overall line sits at a 1.87 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 11.3 K/9 and 25 holds for the second-place Yankees.
The lefty added a sinker this year, and while it hasn’t been effective on its own (.379 batting average allowed), his overall groundball rate has improved, contributing to his success. Fernando Cruz is nearing a return from injury, and Headrick’s already up to a career-high 72.1 innings, so there’s a chance his role gets scaled back.
Bryan Abreu (RP – HOU) | Previous: Unranked; Current: 38
Bryan Abreu started this season in the top 10 after finishing 2025 as a top-five reliever in saves-plus-holds leagues. He quickly fell out of favor with his horrible performance and hasn’t been in the top 40 since the middle of April. However, he’s quietly turned his season around, despite what the season-long stats may say.
In 26 innings in the second half, Abreu has a 1.04 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 11.1 K/9 and 12 saves plus holds. That looks more like the pitcher we’ve come to know over the past four seasons. From 2022-2025, he’s posted a 2.30 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 12.7 K/9 while pitching at least 60 innings in each season. He’s always going to struggle with walks, but Abreau can be dominant when he’s on.
