Smash Spots
Noah Cameron (SP – KCR) @ PIT
Noah Cameron has really turned it on in the second half. He’s in a good spot to keep it rolling against an underwhelming Pirates offense.
Foster Griffin (SP – CLE) vs. CWS
Foster Griffin has been underwhelming lately, but I like his chances at a quality outing against an ice-cold White Sox offense. We could see six innings with six or more strikeouts.
Nick Pivetta (SP – SDP) vs. MIA
Nick Pivetta in a home start against the Marlins is exactly what you want to target. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a dominant outing here.
Risky Starts
Bryan Woo (SP – SEA) @ COL
It’s always risky starting a pitcher at Coors Field, as you just don’t know what you’re going to get. Woo has been inconsistent this season as well.
MacKenzie Gore (SP – TEX) vs. BOS
I really thought MacKenzie Gore would take his game to another level in a pitcher-friendly environment with the Rangers, but he’s been as inconsistent as ever. I like that he’s at home here, but he’s still a risky start versus the Red Sox.
Chase Burns (SP – CIN) vs. CHC
Chase Burns has been on a pitch count lately, making him hard to trust against the Cubs. Still, I’m including him on this list because we all know what he can do.
Two-Start Pitchers
Quinn Mathews (SP – STL) vs. SFG, vs. WSH
Quinn Mathews is a talented pitcher with upside, so you have to be intrigued by his potential for a two-start week in a pair of exploitable matchups versus the Giants and Nationals.
Griffin Jax (SP – TBR) vs. ATH, vs. BOS
I like Griffin Jax‘s chances of getting on track for a two-step against the Athletics and the Red Sox, especially the first matchup. Even though the Rays have clinched a playoff spot, they’re still fighting to hold onto the American League East lead.
Jose Soriano (SP – TOR) vs. DET, @ TEX
I love the two matchups Jose Soriano has against the Tigers and the Rangers. With the Blue Jays fighting for the final American League Wild Card spot, it’s time for him to get rolling.
