Another week has come and gone, and it is time to look ahead to the upcoming fantasy baseball matchups. I will continue to be here every week this season to give you suggestions on what pitchers you should stream to win your matchups.
I will be using the FantasyPros streaming pitchers rankings to help determine my picks. Feel free to sync your league and take a look at your own to find high-potential starters available on your waivers.
Also, please keep in mind that starters can get off schedule, and some projected starters can be pushed back due to circumstances such as injury and weather.
Let’s take a look at the best streaming options for the week ahead.

Week 23 Fantasy Baseball Streaming Pitchers
Monday, September 7
Joey Cantillo (SP – CLE) vs. BAL | 25% Rostered
Joey Cantillo is a decent pitcher facing an ice-cold team. The Baltimore Orioles have lost six in a row. They have looked simply uncompetitive in the last week. Baseball is a game of momentum, and the 26-year-old lefty has it starting off the week.
To be fair, this matchup is less about Cantillo being great, and more about the Orioles being bad. Another plus is the fact that the Orioles have the fourth-most team strikeouts in baseball with 1332.
Consider streaming Cantillo to capitalize on his easy matchup to start the week.
- Alternative: Michael McGreevy (SP – STL) @ SF | 16% Rostered
Tuesday, September 8
Hayden Wesneski (SP – HOU) @ PHI | 13% Rostered
Hayden Wesneski would definitely not be available in so many leagues if we were earlier in the season. At this point in the year, many teams have given up, causing players like Wesneski to be here. Pick him up if you can.
The 28-year-old righty has a 3.18 ERA headed into this start across 39.2 innings, striking out 33 batters. He does not throw high velocity, but he makes up for it with his deceptive sweeper that has a 41.7% whiff rate.
The Phillies are 80-63 and are certainly a dangerous opponent. Luckily, their team OPS is .712 and is only the 19th-best in baseball. Wesneski has shown he can survive against good teams.
- Alternative: Andrew Painter (SP – PHI) vs. HOU | 17% Rostered
Wednesday, September 9
Cal Quantrill (SP – TEX) @ SEA | 25% Rostered
If Quantrill is still available in your leagues, you better go get him. He has outlived his reputation and is on an insane five-game stretch. Within these five games, Quantrill has allowed four runs across 31.0 innings, striking out 30 batters. Quantrill has been nothing short of excellent.
Quantrill now has the blessing of facing the Mariners, who have lost seven of their last ten and have the third-worst OPS in baseball (.684). Stream the 31-year-old righty with confidence on Wednesday.
- Alternative: Andre Pallante (SP – STL) @ STL | 13% Rostered
Thursday, September 10
Jared Jones (SP – PIT) @ CWS | 14% Rostered
Jared Jones has 92 strikeouts in 78.2 innings. He has a less-than-stellar ERA of 4.46 (3.63 xERA) and a WHIP of 1.23 to go with it.
Simply put, Jones is the strikeout option of the week. He has been struggling in his return to the Majors after his lengthy injury. What the 25-year-old flamethrowing righty does have back is his strikeout potential, and fantasy managers should capitalize on that as he faces the White Sox, who have the sixth-most strikeouts in baseball.
In addition, Jones flashed his bright potential last week, when he struck out nine Angels across six scoreless innings. Give Jones a chance this week.
- Alternative: Kumar Rocker (SP – TEX) @ SEA | 4% Rostered
Friday, September 11
Jeffrey Springs (SP – ATH) vs. SEA | 8% Rostered
Jeffrey Springs is admittedly not my favorite stream of this week. Friday looks thin for streamers, and we have to pick someone, so here we are.
Springs just threw seven scoreless innings, striking out six. He had a great outing, but has been having a rough season. The 33-year-old lefty is a decent strikeout option against the Mariners, but I am not sure it is the best idea to take risks like this in the playoffs.
- Alternative: Martin Perez (SP – ATL) vs. PHI | 11% Rostered
Saturday, September 12
Andrew Alvarez (SP – WAS) vs. LAA | 4% Rostered
Andrew Alvarez is our high-floor, low-ceiling stream of the week. Alvarez has an ERA of 3.60 in 95.0 innings and has only allowed more than three runs in two outings this season.
The 27-year-old lefty gets to face the 54-89 Angels, who have the worst team OPS in baseball at .677. Although Alvarez struggles to pitch deep into ballgames, the innings he throws against the Angels should be of high quality.
- Alternative: Gage Jump (SP – ATH) vs. SEA | 8% Rostered
Sunday, September 13
Andrew Painter (SP – PHI) vs. ATL | 17% Rostered
Andrew Painter has been on fire in his most recent three starts. The former top prospect has been reminding everyone why he was so touted back in the day, striking out 20 batters across 20 innings, allowing four runs. Painter has only walked three batters in this period, showing improvement in a weak area he has had this season.
The Braves have an above-average team OPS of .725. They have an impressive record of 85-58. Regardless, the 23-year-old righty has the momentum and talent to perform well.
- Alternative: Jacob Lopez (SP – ATH) vs. SEA | 23% Rostered
