We’re down to the wire. If you haven’t held your fantasy football draft yet, you’re likely cramming like it’s a test, doing ample mock drafts, looking at average draft position (ADP), rankings and reading strategy articles.
Here, you’ll find a resource related to overvalued running backs based on ADP. Below, I’ve listed three such backs. Let’s dive in.

Fantasy Football Running Back Busts
De’Von Achane (RB – MIA)
Last season, De’Von Achane finished as the RB5 in PPR leagues, and now he’s currently going as the RB6 in the same format. A few things are going on in Miami where I’m not totally out on Achane, but I’m cautious.
First, let’s be blunt: The team around him is terrible. As a result, Achane will be relied upon in ways where I do think there could be not only injury risk, but also diminishing returns. If he’s the focal point of the offense, yes, he’ll get plenty of touches, but will he be efficient? Last season, over 20% of his runs went for zero or negative yardage.
To add to that, Malik Willis can run himself, which could cut into Achane’s rushing production.
Finally, as a little cherry on top, Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley has spoken glowingly about Ollie Gordon II, saying he could be an every-down back. I don’t expect that to happen, but those are strong enough statements that Achane’s touches could diminish.
Achane could finish in a similar spot as last year, but there’s very little room for fantasy value.
Jeremiyah Love (RB – ARI)
Jeremiyah Love has an RB15 ADP, and while this certainly leaves some room for value, preseason reports aren’t glowing.
For starters, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN said Love would like to be more of a featured back than an every-down back. Thus, he’ll compete for touches with Tyler Allgeier, Bam Knight and James Conner. The latter will start the season on injured reserve (IR) with an ankle injury. The team did cut Trey Benson, so that is one less player to worry about.
Love is dealing with injuries himself, however. According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Love is 50/50 to play in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Chargers due to a high-ankle sprain. With Allgeier on a solid-sized contract, the terrible team around him, and a high-ankle sprain, I’m not overly optimistic about Love’s fantasy value.
Breece Hall (RB – NYJ)
Currently going as the RB16 in PPR leagues, Breece Hall was the RB17 in the same format last season. During the 2025 season, Hall ran the ball 243 times for 1,065 yards and five touchdowns. He averaged 4.4 yards per carry.
One red flag is Hall’s diminishing receiving production. He caught 76 passes in 2023, 57 in 2024 and 36 in 2025. He’s now in an offense with hopefully upgraded quarterback play (though I’m not counting on it) with Geno Smith, but also competing for targets with Garrett Wilson, Omar Cooper Jr., Adonai Mitchell, Mason Taylor and Kenyon Sadiq.
That’s a lot of mouths to feed with a quarterback who averaged 201.7 passing yards per game last season and led the NFL in interceptions. Hall’s upside is capped if his receiving usage continues to decline.
