Fantasy Football Discord Mailbag: Week 1 Advice (2026)

Everyone loves an Ask Me Anything (AMA), especially the fantasy football community. You can put me at the top of the list of those who love fantasy football AMA. Answering questions for a specific individual fantasy player is so much fun. Not only am I helping that fantasy player improve their team, but it also challenges me to think outside the general box of who is higher in my rankings or who to start this week.

FantasyPros does an excellent job with their Discord AMAs, giving members a chance to have their questions answered by professionals. Please join my Discord channel and reach out to me anytime with any fantasy football questions.

So, without further ado, let’s dive into some of the questions and answers from my Week 1 Discord AMA.

Lineup Questions

Would you start Rico Dowdle or MarShawn Lloyd in PPR scoring?

While everyone is excited to see Lloyd fill in as the starter with Josh Jacobs on the Commissioner’s Exempt List, I would rather see the former USC star on the field before I start him. Furthermore, Lloyd faces the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1, who had one of the NFL’s top defenses last season and recently re-signed Harrison Smith. I’ll roll with Dowdle against what will likely be a struggling Atlanta Falcons defense.

Which two should I start in non-PPR scoring: Mike Evans, Luther Burden III, and DJ Moore?

If Rome Odunze plays, I lean towards sitting Burden. However, we likely won’t know that before Evans’ game on Thursday night. Therefore, I would start Evans and Moore despite them having tougher matchups than Burden. Furthermore, the San Francisco 49ers and Buffalo Bills will likely want to get their new star wide receiver involved in the offense early in their games.

Should I start Rico Dowdle, Parker Washington, or Michael Wilson in my flex spot?

All three are solid flex options in PPR scoring. While all three have solid matchups, I’m going with Washington. The former Penn State star ended last season on fire as Trevor Lawrence’s favorite weapon in the passing game. Furthermore, the Jacksonville Jaguars are facing the Cleveland Browns. Don’t be surprised if this game gets out of hand early, with Lawrence and the passing attack putting on a massive fantasy performance.

Is Rhamondre Stevenson a solid flex option despite the unfriendly matchup?

Unfortunately, TreVeyon Henderson will miss Wednesday night’s matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Therefore, Stevenson will have a featured role in Week 1. The matchup limits the veteran running back’s upside, as the Seahawks surrendered the fourth-fewest fantasy points per game to running backs last year (18.7). Yet, the featured role makes Stevenson a low-end RB2 in my Week 1 rankings.

Do you feel comfortable starting Tucker Kraft or George Kittle in Week 1 with them coming off injury?

Both players were top-eight tight ends in my PPR draft rankings, as I have high expectations for both this season. However, the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers will likely limit their star tight end’s snap count in Week 1. I feel better about starting Kraft than Kittle, especially since he suffered his injury early last year. Yet, neither is a top-eight tight end in my Week 1 rankings, with Kittle falling outside the top 12.

FantasyPros Waiver Wire Advice

Waiver Wire Questions

Who would you rather roster between Terrance Ferguson and Keaton Mitchell with your last bench spot?

Ferguson was a sneaky tight end sleeper candidate for fantasy players in deeper leagues. The Los Angeles Rams lack proven pass catchers besides Puka Nacua and Davante Adams. However, I would rather roster Mitchell unless my starting tight end was the weak spot of my roster. Not only should he have a change-of-pace role alongside Omarion Hampton, but Mitchell has massive upside if the second-year pro misses time with an injury.

Trade Questions

Should I trade Zay Flowers and Saquon Barkley for James Cook, Stefon Diggs, and Michael Wilson?

I would not make that trade. While I would rather have Cook over Barkley, both running backs are top-10 guys for me. Meanwhile, Flowers is far and away the best wide receiver in the deal and a weekly plug-and-play guy in your fantasy lineup. By comparison, Diggs and Wilson are borderline WR3 or flex guys depending on the matchup and circumstance. Unless it’s a deeper league and you’re dying for depth, I would keep Flowers and Barkley.

Dynasty Questions

How do you handle older players who are still productive in dynasty leagues?

It comes down to the player and the status of your roster. If I have a contending team and most of my future rookie draft picks, I will run the wheels off my older star players and push for a championship. However, if I don’t have most of my future draft capital or have a team that is a borderline contender, I will sell high on the star veterans and use them to add draft picks and jump-start my rebuilding process.
