News
Bartolo Colon, the ageless wonder, was lit up on Saturday by the Tigers in 3 2/3 innings worked. He allowed eight hits and six runs (all earned) while walking two and striking out four. Colon, as is usual and customary, is carrying some inflated numbers this spring, like a 9.20 ERA. But nobody is concerned, not one bit. And if the team is not concerned, then nobody should be concerned.

Bartolo Colon, hoping to get things like pitch location worked out, instead wound up in survival mode against a hot Pirate offense Monday. Over three innings, he allowed eight hits and five runs (all earned) while walking two and striking out one. Colon, in an interview afterward with the AJC's David O'Brien, said, "The best thing is, thank God, I feel well,” he said through an interpreter. “That’s the most important thing.”

Bartolo Colon continued to use his anti-aging magic against the Phils Wednesday. Over three innings, he allowed one hit and one run (earned) while walking two and striking out three. He is locked in as the Braves No. 2 starter to start the season.

Bartolo Colon pitched two innings against the Blue Jays in the spring opener today in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. He threw 36 pitches and 20 were for strikes. He allowed three hits and one run while recording one strikeout. Colon said afterward that he felt good, “I felt good, really good,” Colon said through an interpreter, which he uses for all interviews. “I feel ready for the fight. … My primary focus is location, just trying to have some good command and place my pitches where I want them to be. Unfortunately, it didn’t really feel like it happened today, but the most important thing is I feel good overall.”

The Braves made the deal last week but today signed Colon to a one-year, $12.5M contract after the physical was passed. Colon is the innings-eater the Braves needed for a year that will allow their young prospects to age and develop one more year in the minors.
