News
Washington Nationals ace Max Scherzer will miss his opening day start with a fractured finger.
Israel Katz -
Doug Fister could not escape the fourth inning, going 3 2/3 innings allowing seven runs on eight hits, while striking out three batters. The Astros lost 7-3.
Dan Schalk
Max Scherzer was able to throw with a normal grip on Monday, but still had pain in his knuckle. His stress fracture in his right ring figure was misdiagnosed during the season and he still is questionable for the beginning of the season. Scherzer was the 2016 NL Cy Young award winner with a 20-7 record and 2.96 ERA.
Chris Zolli
Doug Fister couldn't escape the fifth inning, finishing with 4 1/3 IP, allowing four runs (two earned) with one walk and one strikeout. The Astros lost to the Rays 10-4.
Dan Schalk
Max Scherzer has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his throwing hand. The injury will keep him from competing in the World Baseball Classic, but the Nationals expect him to fully participate in Spring Training.
Blaine Blontz
Doug Fister could only last four innings allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out three batters. The Astros fell to the Cardinals 8-2.
Dan Schalk
Max Scherzer struck out 10 Diamondbacks and allowed just two runs on six hits and two walks Tuesday night. Scherzer did not factor in the decision.
Roy Widrig
Doug Fister pitched six innings of one-run ball on Saturday against the Rangers. Fister gave up nine hits and two walks, striking out two. He did not factor into the decision.
Dan Harris
Max Scherzer struck out eight but allowed two HR for three runs over 6 2/3 innings Wednesday night versus the Marlins.
Roy Widrig
Doug Fister could not get out of the fifth inning, lasting 4 2/3 allowing six runs on nine hits. He walked and struck out three batters each in the 6-3 loss to the Yankees.
Dan Schalk
Notes
Has averaged 18 Wins, 257 K, a 3.09 ERA and 1.05 WHIP over the past 5 seasons - spring finger injury was cause for concern given he was forced to change his grip, but he's back to normal and should be business as usual to start the regular season
Brandon Funston - Yahoo

Not only did Scherzer set a career-best 284 Ks last season, but he also led the league with a 0.968 WHIP and 20 wins. With that being said, drafting a pitcher with over 900 innings over the past four seasons is always dangerous because of elevated injury risk.
