Notes
Realmuto's .277 batting average with 21 homers and 74 RBIs doesn't seem all that impressive, but the fact of the matter is that he blew the rest of the catcher scene away with those numbers. Realmuto is as safe as it comes at the position and should produce far above the lousy replacement level once again. This is especially true now that he has been traded to a great hitter's ballpark in Philly. Don't hesitate to reach for him so you don't get stuck with an awful catcher
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Encarnacion may be getting up there in age, but there are few hitters who have produced consistent power at the rate he has. There is little reason to expect a sudden drop-off but with that said, his RBIs and runs should take a hit with Seattle losing some of their best offensive pieces.
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Already last year's top catcher with room to spare, Realmuto's value rises substantially after getting traded to the Phillies. Depending on his spot in the batting order, an upgraded lineup should yield a major rise in runs and/or RBI. He also goes from the worst park for right-handed power to the second-best behind Coors Field, so he could potentially expand upon 2018's career-high 21 homers. A fade before the move, drafters should now take a closer look at Realmuto to avoid the catching cesspool.
Andrew Gould - FantasyPros
As he embarks upon his age-36 season, Encarnacion is showing some signs of decline. His strikeout rate has crept up over the last three years, while his home run total and batting average have gone in the opposite direction. But this decline shouldn't be overstated -- Encarnacion still topped 30 HRs last year for the seventh straight season, while his 42.4 percent hard contact rate was actually a career high. Most projection systems expect his performance to further decline in 2019, but players do not always decline at a consistent rate. His advancing age makes Encarnacion somewhat of a boom-or-bust pick, but even if he remains on the rebuilding Mariners for the entire season, he should be a good source of home runs and RBIs.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
Realmuto doesn't possess the pure upside of Gary Sanchez, but he may still be the better pick in fantasy drafts. In moving from Miami to Philadelphia, he gets a massive upgrade in both his home ballpark and supporting cast, setting him up to establish new career highs in the counting stats (HR, RBIs, runs). Realmuto is also a good bet to lead all catchers in plate appearances, thanks to both his durability and the possibility that he sees the occasional start at first base when he isn't behind the plate.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
Even in a down year, Encarnacion topped 30 homers for the seventh straight season, a span during which 2014's 98 RBI was the only time he fell short of 100. That bankable power is comforting at his depreciating price, but career worsts in contact (75.7%) and strikeout (22.9%) rate led to his lowest average (.248) since 2010. The durable slugger also missed time with a biceps injury during his age-35 campaign, so don't reach for name recognition. That shouldn't be necessary, as ADPs beyond the top 100 suggest he could fall into your lap.
