Notes
Eugenio Suarez has often been one of the most overlooked players in fantasy, but now, it seems like there's risk with the profile. Not only is he coming back from a shoulder injury, but you're banking on a pace of 45-plus home runs again to provide the value you need. He's essentially empty power, as he doesn't hit for a good average, nor will he still bases for you. The position is deep enough that you can move past Suarez and his red flags.
Michael Waterloo - FantasyPros
How should you approach Giancarlo Stanton in the draft? Look, there's no denying his talent, but has any player snake-bitten fantasy managers as often as Stanton has? He's worth the gamble here, but you're still in the early part of your draft where you're building your foundation. You don't want your foundation to come with built-in cracks.
Michael Waterloo - FantasyPros
Few hitters benefited as much from the postponement of the season as did Suarez, whose shoulder woes made his availability for Opening Day questionable. He'll now likely be at or close to full strength when the season begins. Whether he can repeat his near-50 homer performance is another question (he likely can't), but you should draft him as you would few to no health concerns.
Dan Harris - FantasyPros
Stanton's Grade-1 hamstring strain was going to keep him out of action for Opening Day, but he now should be ready to go whenever the season begins. Stanton will always be an injury risk, but for now, view him as a healthy option heading into the season. His power potential therefore makes him an option in Round 3 or 4, depending on your risk tolerance.
Dan Harris - FantasyPros
This is your reminder that Suarez hit 49 home runs last season. He, of course, ended up with 100+ RBIs for the second straight season too, and his batting average won't even kill you. The fact that you can get him a round or two after Kris Bryant is absolute gold.
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Stanton missed virtually the entire season but let's not forget that he only missed 7 games in the prior two years and combined for 97 homers, 232 RBIs and 225 runs scored. Don't be mistaken, this is still one of the best hitters in baseball. With that said, he is already dealing with another injury.
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
