Ever since returning to the mound on May 16, Astros starter Framber Valdez has been one of the best pitchers in baseball. That streak continued on Sunday as he lasted seven innings, allowing just two runs (one earned), five hits, and three walks. He also struck out two batters in the process.

Notes
So long as he remains with the Pirates, Rodriguez is likely to be the closer after locking down four saves last year. He's been a quality reliever for a few years in a row now, including last year when he put up a 2.70 ERA and a 0.86 WHIP with plenty of strikeouts. There's been speculation that the Pirates will look to deal Rodriguez before the season begins. But until and unless they do, he's a decent late-round selection who will likely total a handful of saves until he's inevitably dealt mid-season.
Dan Harris - FantasyPros
Valdez was shaping up to be a fine sleeper this year, after he had a highly successful stint in the Astros rotation last year. But he fractured his finger early in spring training and the expectation is that he'll miss significant time, though recent reports are far more optimistic than the initial season-ending variety. Drop him down a ton from where you initially had him ranked, but draft him toward the back end of your rotation where the risk/reward balance should equalize.
Dan Harris - FantasyPros
Valdez isn't getting enough credit for basically saving Houston's season last summer. Following the loss of Gerrit Cole to free agency, the loss of Justin Verlander to Tommy John surgery, and the loss of Zack Greinke's effectiveness, Valdez stepped up in a big way. He both increased his strikeout rate and lowered his walk rate to produce a career-best season. Unfortunately, this also came with a less-than-ideal hard-hit rate. Living in the zone more often led to batters doing more damage with Valdez's offerings. This was also combatted by his increased sinker usage, which led to many of these batted balls going directly into the ground. His breakout looks real, and I'm investing accordingly.
