Notes
First basemen isn't as deep as it once was so commodities like Freeman are well worth investing in toward the middle of the third round. He is a lock for 90 runs, 90 RBIs and a .300 batting average each year and that type of player doesn't grow on trees
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Last year was a major disappointment for Bellinger owners after he hit 39 homers in just 132 rookie games in 2017. He still managed to hit 25 bombs with 14 steals, however, so the floor is plenty high. At just 23 years old, we clearly haven't seen the best of Bellinger so don't be surprised if he breaks out for 50 bombs this year or next
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Freeman bounced back from an injury-shortened 2017 season to finish as the number one fantasy first baseman in 2018, despite a precipitous drop in his power output. Freeman may struggle to return to the 30-HR plateau if he continues to hit as few fly balls as he did last year, but he's now produced a .300 batting average in three straight seasons, is good for 5-10 steals, and should continue to see healthy run and RBI totals as the Braves' lineup comes into its own. Consider him a decent bet to again finish as the number one 1B in fantasy.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
Bellinger was always due for some negative regression after he belted 39 home runs in just 480 at-bats during his rookie 2017 season, but he should now be due for a bit of positive regression after managing just 25 home runs last year. His hard hit rate tailed off a bit, but his exit velocity and launch angle remained unchanged, so he's a good bet to return to the 30-35 HR range this year. Bellinger promisingly trimmed his strikeout rate, indicating that he should be able to keep his batting average in the .260 range even if his BABIP drops a little, and the 10-15 steals he provides give him a leg up on most other 1B-eligible players. The fact he's unlikely to hit .280-.300 keeps him a notch below Freeman, Goldschmidt, and Rizzo, but he's already the next best thing and is still just 23 years old.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
Replacing Joey Votto as the line-drive king, Freeman has batted above .300 with a slugging percentage over .500 in each of the last three seasons. He played all 162 games and even poached a career-high 10 bases in 2018. He'd be fantasy's undisputed top first baseman if not for a late power outage limiting him to 23 homers. Now he's simply competing with Paul Goldschmidt for top billing as second-round mainstays. Now that he has slowly repealed the injury-prone label, Freeman is a relatively safe pick with MVP upside.
Andrew Gould - FantasyPros
In 162 games and 84 more plate appearances than in his spectacular arrival, Bellinger hit 14 fewer home runs (25) while his ISO dropped from .315 to .210. On the bright side, he avoided significant batting-average regression by hitting .260 with a diminished strikeout rate (23.9%). The 23-year-old maintains more than enough raw power to jump back to 30 long balls, but don't overlook his 14 steals in 15 tries. This isn't a mere case of catching opponents off guard, as the 6'4" stud recorded a higher Statcast speed score (28.9) than Jose Peraza, Tim Anderson, and Ozzie Albies. He's a 30-15 candidate with upside for more, so don't let him fall too far beyond the fourth round.
