Gerrit Cole allowed two runs on four hits over six innings in Sunday's win over the Mariners. He struck out 11 and earned the win, moving to 1-2 on the season.

Mon, Apr 15th
Blake Snell has been placed on the 10-day IL, due to a fractured fourth right toe. Snell said the injury occurred on Sunday when he was getting out of the shower and decided to move a decorative stand in his bathroom. Part of the stand fell as he lifted it and the bottom piece, which was made from granite, fell on his right foot. The IL move was retroactive to Sunday and the Rays are calling up Emilio Pagan in Snell's place.

Notes
You can look at Cole's 3.50 second half ERA and assume he got worse over the season, but all the underlying numbers suggest he was actually better. Don't shy away from him because of a false fear of his risk. Rather, expect another 250+ strikeouts with plenty of wins and excellent ratios
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Snell may have posted the single greatest second half of any pitcher in the last 50 years with a 1.17 ERA, .155 BAA and 12.7 K/9. There is a chance he finishes as the #1 fantasy pitcher this season, but both Scherzer and Sale are safer bets because of their sustained reliability
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Cole was trending in a bad direction over his last couple years in Pittsburgh, but a move to Houston completely revived his career. As an Astro, Cole ditched an ineffective sinker and dramatically increased his spin rate on his fastball, and the result was a career-best 12.4 K/9 rate along with a shiny 2.88 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. Cole doesn't have the extended track record of dominance that some of the other fantasy aces possess, but there is little reason to doubt that he can replicate his success in his second season in Houston.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
Snell experienced a massive breakout in 2018, establishing himself as a bonafide fantasy ace. It's fairly obvious that his 1.89 ERA is due for some regression, but the question is how much. He cut his walk rate, but it is still a bit higher than most of the top-tier starters, and his .241 BABIP allowed and 88 percent left-on-base percentage are highly unlikely to happen again. Pitching in the AL East also remain a tough assignment, although at least his home park is pitcher-friendly. Snell may see his ERA and WHIP rise to over 3.00 and 1.15, respectively, but he can still be a legit number one starter in 12-team mixed leagues.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
The Astros unlocked Cole's ace upside by tabling a middling sinker for more sliders and curveballs. He also revamped his fastball, which yielded a .268 wOBA after allowing a .334 wOBA in his last year with the Pirates. As a result, his strikeout and swinging-strike rates skyrocketed to 34.5 and 14.1%, respectively. His contact rate dropped eight points to 71.5, and he earned his 2.88 ERA with a 2.70 FIP and 2.91 SIERA. Trust the breakout and treat the strikeout artist on a title contender as a borderline top-five hurler alongside teammate Justin Verlander.
Andrew Gould - FantasyPros
Snell is going to regress. That's not necessarily a cause for panic, as his ERA could rise a full run and remain a resounding 2.89. His control (9.1 BB%) is lacking for a top-tier ace, but Tampa Bay's southpaw also permitted the lowest contact rate (66.6%) of all qualified starters while sporting the fourth-best swinging-strike rate (15.1%). He could approach 240-250 strikeouts with an innings uptick, so don't flea as long as his price factors in some regression.
