Torres is a former elite prospect who is coming off an excellent rookie season in New York. He strikes out a bit too much at this stage of his career to be a reliable asset in batting average, but he won't kill you there and should be able to match or exceed last season's 24 home runs while also chipping in 5-10 steals and solid run and RBI totals. At just 22 years old, there's also a chance that Torres takes a big step forward this year and jumps into the upper echelon at the position, but his fifth-round ADP means you'll be paying for that upside if you draft him.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
Profar finally got a full chance last year for Texas and posted 20 homers and 10 stolen bases. He takes a hit in projections moving from Texas to Oakland's ballpark, but keep in mind that he just turned 26 years old and very likely hasn't hit his prime yet.
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Torres, 22, was a highly touted prospect now coming off a sublime rookie campaign with the Yankees. So of course the cost is blowing out of hand. After recording a 70.2% contact rate with strikeouts in a quarter of his plate appearances, repeating last year's .271 average is an optimistic expectation. He cooled down over the second half (.249/.329/.404), so there's too much risk to bite at his 53 consensus ADP.
Andrew Gould - FantasyPros
Profar finally delivered on some of his long-forgotten prospect hype in 2018, putting up 20 homers and 10 steals with decent run production numbers. It remains to be seen if he can maintain or improve on those numbers, but he's another reasonable bench stash considering his prospect pedigree and the fact he'll have position eligibility all over the diamond.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
Torres isn't a big contributor in stolen bases, but he is plenty useful in each of the other four main categories. If you expand his rates out to a full season, Torres would have posted 32 homers, 101 RBIs and a .271 batting average. You would be thrilled to get that type of production out of your seventh round shortstop.
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
It took a bit longer than expected, but Profar finally emerged as a strong major leaguer by batting .254/.335/.458 with 20 homers and 10 steals. The Rangers oddly moved him to the A's, a move that presents a major ballpark downgrade after he slugged .511 in Arlington. Aside from a possible average uptick, the skills don't portend another leap forward. Perhaps the biggest incentive to drafting Profar is gleaning eligibility at first base, third, shortstop, and even second (10 games) in some leagues.
Andrew Gould - FantasyPros
