Braun isn't often healthy, but when he is on the field, he has continued to rake over the last three years. In that time, his per 162 game average is 30 homers, 18 steals and a .279 batting average. If he can finally stay on the field, fantasy owners will hit the jackpot this year.
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Desmond has now gone 20/20 in five of his last six healthy seasons. His .236 batting average isn't what you'd hope for, but keep in mind that he batted .285 and .274 the previous two seasons so he should jump back in 2019.
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Braun is no longer the dominant fantasy outfielder he once was, but he looks to be criminally underrated at this stage of his career. You can't expect him to play more than 120-140 games, but Braun has proven over the last couple seasons that he's capable of producing 20+ HRs and 10+ SBs even while missing a quarter of a season, and his batting average could even pop back up into the .280+ range after two straight low-BABIP seasons. Hitting in a terrific lineup and favorable home ballpark, Braun (ADP 203.7) should be able to again produce numbers that resemble those of OFs going much earlier in drafts like George Springer (ADP 54.3), Mitch Haniger (ADP 81.0), and Justin Upton (ADP 85.7).
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
Desmond went 20-20 in 2018 for the fifth time in seven seasons, but those numbers were accompanied by an ugly .236 batting average. The batting average should improve a bit as last year's career-low .279 BABIP normalizes, but Desmond is unlikely to again reach 20 home runs if he continues to hit the ball on the ground 62 percent of the time, like he has since he got to Colorado in 2017. There is also some risk Desmond runs less in his age-33 season, but it's reasonable to hope he provides 15 HRs, 20 SBs, and a .265 average.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
A regressing Braun still offers value. Despite posting career lows in batting average (.254), OBP (.313) and wRC+ (105), the veteran still stockpiled 20 homers and 11 steals last year. He faces far less competition for playing time now that the Brewers have traded Domingo Santana and Keon Broxton, so he'll go as far as his health takes him. The 35-year-old isn't washed just yet; he notched a .296 xBA and .515 xSLG, per Statcast. He should at least fare closer to 2017's .268/.336/.487 slash line, and a 25/15 campaign isn't out of the question if he could piece together 550 plate appearances in around 130 games. A massive discrepancy between his consensus ADP (210) and ECR (141) reveals an intriguing buy-low opportunity.
Andrew Gould - FantasyPros
No player has a greater gap in actual and fantasy value than Desmond. He went 20/20 for the fifth time in his career, joining just 10 players to hit both benchmarks. He was also the worst position player in baseball, recording -0.7 fWAR with a .315 wOBA and mediocre defense at first base. He couldn't even cash in at Coors Field, where he hit a robust .239/.319/.404. The Rockies should bench him, but they probably won't admit to a sunk cost. Instead, they plan on starting him at center field, which means drafters can at least count on homers and steals (and multi-position eligibility) while hoping the Colorado altitude augments his batting average. It's nevertheless impossible to get too excited about a mediocre performer who notched an MLB-high 62.0% ground-ball rate.
