Jack Flaherty tossed six innings, allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out 11 to record his second win of the season as the Cardinals beat the Pirates 2-1 on Sunday. Flaherty allowed a leadoff double to Bryan Reynolds in the fourth inning and the Pirates brought him around to score on a sacrifice fly later in the frame. Flaherty threw 102 pitches, 61 of them for strikes, and the Cardinals improved to 26-24 with the victory. They are now one game ahead of both the Reds and Brewers for Second Place in the NL Central in what figures to be one of the final week's most exciting playoff races.

Notes
2019 shocked me and ranking him THIS high confirms that belief, but I can't move him ahead of the leagues Aces after one great season. Close, but not yet.
Chris Mitchell - FantasyData
It's weird that George Springer is already 30 years old, no? It seems like just yesterday that he made his debut. We know that players start to decline on the wrong side of 30, and when you look at Springer, he hasn't exactly been the model of health over the past few years, playing in more than 140 games just once in his career. Add to that the cheating scandal, and we really don't know how much of an impact it will have on Springer. There are enough signs here to pivot in another direction.
Michael Waterloo - FantasyPros
When Jacob deGrom posted his historic 2018 numbers en route to his Cy Young, we knew that there would be regression coming in 2019. Carrying over a 1.70 ERA, 1.94 average against, and a 0.91 WHIP wasn't sustainable, and we knew that. For his encore in 2019, he posted a 2.43 ERA, .205 average against, and a 0.97 WHIP. So when people mention that Flaherty's second half is the driving force around his price tag, they aren't wrong. His second half was historic - especially compared to his first half of 2019, where he struggled mightly. But even with regression to his second-half numbers - 0.91 ERA, .142 average against, and 0.71 WHIP - Flaherty has the pedigree, sample size, and stuff to be the ace for your team. Don't overthink it."
Michael Waterloo - FantasyPros
Was off Springer at ADP last season, and that was wrong. However, I am diving right back into it this season, and will likely own zero shares. He has been a decent fantasy player being drafted at ceiling since he joined the league, and 2019 was the first season that it actually worked out. With the potential dejuicing of the ball and the cheating scandal, on top of his career averages, he is a hard pass for me.
Michael Petropoulos - BRoto Fantasy
If ever there were a tale of two halves, it was Flaherty's 2019 season. A 4.64 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP in the first half, followed by a preposterous 0.91 ERA and 0.71 WHIP in the second half. His strikeout rate jumped, his walk rate dropped, and he saw a gain of almost a mile per hour on his fastball. The real Flaherty likely lies somewhere in between his first and second halves, but that should be a top-10 pitcher in 2020.
Dan Harris - FantasyPros
Hit 39 homers with a .974 OPS in just 122 games last year. Yes please.
Brendan Tuma - BettingPros
 Posted a 0.93 ERA, a 0.70 WHIP, and 11 K/9 over final 16 starts
