Notes
It might not feel sexy drafting Segura, but you can expect a .300+ batting average and 20+ steals for the fourth consecutive season from him. If he finally plays a full season, we may be looking at a 20/30 year with a .310 batting average which would make Segura a top 25 fantasy asset
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Peraza broke out last season with 13 homers, 23 steals and a .288 batting average. Whether or not the power stays is a question, but he seems to be a safe source for runs, steals and batting average in the middle of drafts.
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Segura's production has fluctuated wildly from year to year since his breakout 2013 season. He's hit as low as .246 and as high as .319, stolen as few as 20 bases and as many as 44, and hit as few as five home runs and as many as 20. But of late he has seemed to settle in as a .300-10-20 type of player and should theoretically benefit from an improved lineup and home ballpark now that he's in Philadelphia. He's a logical choice if you miss out on the top-10 shortstops.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
Peraza was almost as good as Jean Segura last season and there isn't much reason to doubt he can do it again in 2019. He isn't as likely as Segura to post a .300 batting average, but .280-.290 is entirely within reach, and their stolen base totals should be very similar. Peraza is also capable of matching Segura's low double-digit home run output after significantly increasing both his hard contact rate and fly ball rate last season, and he should see an uptick in run production while hitting in an improved Reds' lineup.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
After hitting .300 with 11 homers and 22 steals in 2017, Segura was undervalued in 2018 drafts. He followed up the useful decline from 2016's breakout by batting .304 with 10 homers and 20 steals last season. He's undervalued again. Of the 28 players who stole at least 20 bases in 2018, only 10 hit over .280. Moving to Citizens Bank Park could help him smack a few more long balls and potentially score another 90-plus runs if batting high in a replenished lineup. Simply repeating recent performance would make him worth a look anywhere outside the top-50 picks in 5x5 roto formats.
Andrew Gould - FantasyPros
Peraza's steady skills came with a massive spike in contact (.288 BA) and power (14 HRs, 31 2Bs), turning a bit player into a significant five-by-five contributor. A rise in fly balls, hard hits, and launch angle accompanied the power boost, so he could reasonably reach double-digit homers again. His batting average has fluctuated sharply by year, so he's not quite a bankable star just yet. He is, however, a steady option with few 20-base stealers capable of also hitting .280 with 10 homers.
