Notes
Jeff McNeil feels like a late breakout player, but he just turned 28 years old. But one thing we know we need to judge players on is the entirety of their work, not just their most recent performance. With McNeil, if you look at his minor league numbers, you have to wonder if the power he showcased (23 home runs) - in a season where everyone else was hitting home runs - is for real. If it's not, he's a replaceable player, even at his premium position.
Michael Waterloo - FantasyPros
If you're the type of fantasy player who likes to buy low on players off a down year, then Andrew Benintendi is the type of guy that you want to target. He was, after all, going in the late third to early fourth round of drafts in 2019, and he has the pedigree of a top prospect that you want. Is he going to become the second coming of Christian Yelich? Yeah, that's unlikely, but he's still in a good lineup (even without Mookie Betts), and he'll contribute everywhere but home runs. And even then, he still isn't a zero there.
Michael Waterloo - FantasyPros
There were many skeptics after McNeil's strong rookie performance but it now clear that he is a hitter through and through. He'll again compete for the batting crown and seems likely to his 20+ homers once agin for the Mets this season.
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Benintendi had a disappointing offensive season in 2019, hitting just 13 homers with 10 steals and a .266 batting average. There is upside, sure, but if he repeats that production, he is barely worth drafting, let alone all the way up in the top 100 picks where his ADP currently is.
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Will boost your average, will be a solid contributor elsewhere, and has position flexibility. Very solid pick at ADP.
Michael Petropoulos - BRoto Fantasy
There is really no reason not to buy Benintendi at his current ADP. He will get you HRs and SBs with a decent average, and a solid amount of runs and RBIs. I am quite certain 2019 will be his low point, not his norm.
Michael Petropoulos - BRoto Fantasy
Very safe batting average but it's fair to wonder if we can expect 23 homers again
Brendan Tuma - BettingPros
Has produced a below average 99 wRC+ since the 2018 All-Star break
