Notes
Soto was every bit as good as top-ten pick, Alex Bregman per plate appearance last season, but is going 20 picks later. Keep in mind, he accomplished that as a teenager. Don't hesitate to reach an entire round to grab him before he progresses even more
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Every single season, fantasy owners draft Rendon in the fourth or fifth round and every single year he outproduces that draft value. 2018 was no different, as he hit .308 with 24 homers, 92 RBIs and 88 runs scored in just 136 games. Don't make the mistake of letting him slip by you in the fourth again this season
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Soto breezed through the minor leagues and kept raking as a 19-year old rookie with the Nationals, hitting .292 with 22 home runs across his first 116 Big Leagues games. Perhaps most impressive of all, he walked nearly as often as he struck out, producing a .406 on-base percentage that proves he is more than comfortable at the Major League level. Soto hit the ball on the ground an awful lot as a rookie, so it remains to be seen if he is capable of delivering 30+ home runs, but at least 25 homers seems likely, and he should be a major plus in terms of batting average and run production while also providing at least a handful of steals. The kid is legit.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
Rendon was the only third baseman to hit over .300 last season, and one of four third baseman to accomplish that feat in 2017. He's as good a bet for batting average as it gets at the position, and is also fully capable of delivering 25 home runs with good run and RBI totals. His stolen base totals have evaporated over the last couple years, but that shouldn't prevent him from again being a top-40 overall hitter in standard roto and categories leagues.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
Expected to play at least one more full season in the minors, Soto instead showed elite skills beyond his years, batting .292/.406/.517 at age 19. After popping 22 homers in 494 plate appearance, supporters are dreaming of a .300, 30-homer, 10-steal breakout. It will happen soon enough, but don't reach for those lofty expectations in 2019. A 53.7% ground-ball rate dampens his power prospects, especially since nearly a quarter of his fly balls went yard last season. If his top-30 ECR holds, drafters are likely overpaying for a 25-homer, five-steal hitter who should be going closer to Anthony Rendon than Andrew Benintendi.
Andrew Gould - FantasyPros
Diminishing speed and non-elite power make Rendon boring, but he's still a tremendous hitter who has batted above .300 and slugged over .500 in each of the last two seasons. After missing time with a bruised toe earlier in 2018, he posted a .391 wOBA (a mark matched by Jose Ramirez and Nolan Arenado all season) since the start of June. Stealing twice in three tries is a major bummer, but don't underestimate the worth of a .300, 25-homer hitter who could offer 90-100 runs and RBI apiece in the heart of Washington's lineup.
