Keston Hiura was my favorite player to go after in 2018 first-year player drafts who wasn't named Shohei Ohtani. Yes, more than Luis Robert. I compared him at the time to prime Dustin Pedroia but with more power. Hiura's early returns were better than I had imagined. He's in the perfect ballpark, and he's at the shallowest position outside of catcher to justify this ranking - even with the high strikeout marks. Hiura is going to be a top-three second baseman in fantasy for the next decade."
Michael Waterloo - FantasyPros
30 home runs (in a 162 season adjusted for the 60 game sprint) is a LOCK for a guy that gets no respect AND qualifies at SS. I don't know what he has to do to get his respects but he has mine. I just wish he stole 20 bases so I could put him in the Top 10.
Chris Mitchell - FantasyData
Keston Hiura is one of my most owned players and one of my favorite picks at ADP this season. You are getting what I call the "Sophomore Discount," which is when rookies blow up on to the scene and people are hesitant to fully buy into it. Hiura is a pure hitter, hits the ball ridiculously hard, and will bat in the heart of a solid lineup. Sign me up as he has clear 30/15 upside and room for more.
Michael Petropoulos - BRoto Fantasy
You can't bank on the steals from Manny Machado anymore, and it's too hard to consider him an elite fantasy player after his well-known struggles out of Camden Yards. But you aren't paying for elite production here - you're paying for a bounce-back candidate who can give you first- to second-round production. The pressure is on the Padres' front office to win, so Machado is going to be surrounded by an even better offense in his second year in San Diego. Machado's 2019 was split into three good months and three really bad months. Bet on the talent in these situations ... at least for one more year.
Michael Waterloo - FantasyPros
Love the player but the price is aggressive. Could be a 30/20 asset with a .300 average if everything breaks right. Could also have a sophomore slump
Brendan Tuma - BettingPros
One of my favorite picks at ADP this season (also one of my highest owned players). Has played the most games of all players over the last five years so there is zero injury concern. He is a lock for 30+ HRs, his average should revert back to near his career avg (.279), and should be able to let loose a bit more after pressing a bit his first season in SD. Sign me up.
Michael Petropoulos - BRoto Fantasy
Willing to invest on a premium talent at a much lower cost than a season ago. Worth noting he hasn't been the same hitter outside of Camden Yards, however
