Notes
Realmuto's .277 batting average with 21 homers and 74 RBIs doesn't seem all that impressive, but the fact of the matter is that he blew the rest of the catcher scene away with those numbers. Realmuto is as safe as it comes at the position and should produce far above the lousy replacement level once again. This is especially true now that he has been traded to a great hitter's ballpark in Philly. Don't hesitate to reach for him so you don't get stuck with an awful catcher
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Muncy was 2nd in HR-rate among all MLB hitters last season. Granted, he slowed down toward the end of the year and his batting average wasn't ideal, but that type of power certainly warrants a top 100 pick. This is especially the case when he qualifies at second base and third base too.
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Already last year's top catcher with room to spare, Realmuto's value rises substantially after getting traded to the Phillies. Depending on his spot in the batting order, an upgraded lineup should yield a major rise in runs and/or RBI. He also goes from the worst park for right-handed power to the second-best behind Coors Field, so he could potentially expand upon 2018's career-high 21 homers. A fade before the move, drafters should now take a closer look at Realmuto to avoid the catching cesspool.
Andrew Gould - FantasyPros
Muncy was a late bloomer, bouncing around the Athletics' and Dodgers' farm systems for six years before breaking out in a big way at 27 years old. In his first extended opportunity in the Big Leagues, Muncy smacked 35 home runs in just 395 at-bats. That was due in part to a 29.4 percent HR/FB ratio that was one of the highest in baseball, but Muncy was also among the league leaders in hard contact rate. Even if his HR/FB rate drops off, he can make up for it with more games played, making him a decent bet to again top 30 home runs. He won't be an asset in batting average or stolen bases, but he is another example of a big-time power source you can acquire relatively cheaply.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
Realmuto doesn't possess the pure upside of Gary Sanchez, but he may still be the better pick in fantasy drafts. In moving from Miami to Philadelphia, he gets a massive upgrade in both his home ballpark and supporting cast, setting him up to establish new career highs in the counting stats (HR, RBIs, runs). Realmuto is also a good bet to lead all catchers in plate appearances, thanks to both his durability and the possibility that he sees the occasional start at first base when he isn't behind the plate.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
Muncy had batted .195 with five homers in 245 big league plate appearances prior to 2018, so he naturally towered 35 homers with a .407 wOBA. He endured some troubling strikeout woes late in the season and playoffs, but there are plenty of reasons not to anticipate the bottom falling out entirely. Along with a gorgeous 16.4% walk rate, the late bloomer notched a heavy dosage of fly balls (44.9%, only 5.9% popups) and hard hits (47.4%). Per Statcast, only Joey Gallo served up a higher rate of barrels per batted balls than Muncy's 16.9. He's a solid power pick-and tremendous OBP target-if the rest of the room sees an obvious regression candidate.
