Muncy was 2nd in HR-rate among all MLB hitters last season. Granted, he slowed down toward the end of the year and his batting average wasn't ideal, but that type of power certainly warrants a top 100 pick. This is especially the case when he qualifies at second base and third base too.
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
We have seen enough from Marte to know he will never produce useful batting averages or the speed he teased as a prospect. There is something to be said for an everyday player in terms of counting stats, but outside of that, he is replacement-level.
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Muncy was a late bloomer, bouncing around the Athletics' and Dodgers' farm systems for six years before breaking out in a big way at 27 years old. In his first extended opportunity in the Big Leagues, Muncy smacked 35 home runs in just 395 at-bats. That was due in part to a 29.4 percent HR/FB ratio that was one of the highest in baseball, but Muncy was also among the league leaders in hard contact rate. Even if his HR/FB rate drops off, he can make up for it with more games played, making him a decent bet to again top 30 home runs. He won't be an asset in batting average or stolen bases, but he is another example of a big-time power source you can acquire relatively cheaply.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
He didn't quite validate last spring's sleeper appeal, but Marte continued to flash the skills that should prompt drafters to give him another shot. Despite batting .260, he produced a noteworthy 85.9% contact rate while dropping his strikeout rate to 13.4%. He appeared to put it all together when hitting .296/.377/.464 after the All-Star break, and the speed remains existent if ever given the green light. He's a strong middle-infield target who will gain eligibility at center field.
Andrew Gould - FantasyPros
Muncy had batted .195 with five homers in 245 big league plate appearances prior to 2018, so he naturally towered 35 homers with a .407 wOBA. He endured some troubling strikeout woes late in the season and playoffs, but there are plenty of reasons not to anticipate the bottom falling out entirely. Along with a gorgeous 16.4% walk rate, the late bloomer notched a heavy dosage of fly balls (44.9%, only 5.9% popups) and hard hits (47.4%). Per Statcast, only Joey Gallo served up a higher rate of barrels per batted balls than Muncy's 16.9. He's a solid power pick-and tremendous OBP target-if the rest of the room sees an obvious regression candidate.
Andrew Gould - FantasyPros
