Notes
Goldschmidt was incredible over his last 100 games, posting a .334/.424/.608 line. You may think his stats will take a big hit moving out of Chase Field, but with the humidor in place, it was actually among the worst park for hitters last season. In St. Louis, he should continue his run of 30+ homers, 95+ runs and a .290+ batting average
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
While Blackmon wasn't the number one fantasy asset like in 2017, he still knocked 29 homers, led the league in runs and batted .291, and don't forget, that was a down year. If that is his floor, fantasy owners are getting a steal in the late 2nd round.
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Goldschmidt recovered from a dreadful first two months to finish as the second-best first baseman in fantasy in 2018, providing his typical production aside from a drop in stolen bases. The steals may not fully return, and Goldy's gradually increasing strikeout rate suggests he may not continue to hit above .290, either, particularly as he moves to a more pitcher-friendly home ballpark in St. Louis. Still, he is a strong bet to approach 30-100-100 and should go in the first two or three rounds of most fantasy drafts.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
Blackmon doesn't receive the fanfare of guys like Bryce Harper and Giancarlo Stanton, but he's outperformed them in standard roto/categories leagues for three years running. Even though his numbers predictably tailed off considerably from his bonkers 2017 season, Blackmon still finished as a top-six outfielder and top-14 overall hitter last season. His stolen bases are on a three-year decline, but he should still be able to reach double digits, and there's not much evidence his skills are otherwise deteriorating at age 32. As long as his skills remain constant and he remains in Colorado, last season's .291 batting average is close to the floor for Blackmon, and another year above .320 is entirely possible.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
Whatever happened in May, Goldschmidt remedied it. After batting .144/.252/.278 in the worst month of the career, he then hit .330/.420/.602 with 26 of his 33 homers. He still batted .290-his lowest average since 2012-with 33 homers and a .390 wOBA. Now stationed behind bat walks machine Matt Carpenter in St. Louis, the durable veteran makes a sturdy second-round selection who could return first-round value by reviving gaudy stolen-base tallies of years' past.
Andrew Gould - FantasyPros
Blackmon's down year (.291, 29 HR, 119 R, 12 SB) was still far better than most players' best year. Nevertheless, 2017's 37 homers now looks like the clear outlier for a 32-year-old yet to reach 30 in another season. He has also stolen fewer bases in each of the last three seasons. Yet this is still someone who has logged over 640 plate appearances and hit at least .287 in each of his five full seasons as an everyday starter. Nobody has scored more runs (542) during that timeframe, and he's no longer a flight risk after signing an extension through 2023 with the Rockies. Blackmon remains an elite stat-stuffer with little downside as a borderline top-25 pick.
