Shaw has back to back seasons with 30 homers, and while his batting average may linger in the .240's again, that type of power is difficult to come by after pick 100, especially for someone who qualifies as a second basemen in most leagues.
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Dozier may not have had the best season last year, but he still hit 21 homers with 12 steals. The batting average is expected to rise in 2019 and let's not forget that he has 40 homer, 20 steal upside.
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Shaw and Mike Moustakas are similar players who will now share an infield in Milwaukee, with Moustakas currently penciled in at┬ásecond base after Shaw moved over there from third last year. Regardless of where they line up defensively, Shaw and Moustakas are both lefty sluggers who are good bets to deliver 30+ home runs and 90+ RBIs in the Miller Park bandbox. Neither is likely to be of much help in batting average or stolen bases, but they are useful players to own, especially considering they will have multi-position eligibility.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
Coming off back-to-back seasons as a top-25 overall player in standard 5x5 leagues, Dozier really struggled in 2018, hitting just .215 while both his HR and SB totals fell as well. It was an all-around frustrating season, but there are plenty of reasons for optimism for a rebound. Dozier's batted ball profile remained basically the same as past seasons, but his BABIP was much lower than usual. He also had to adjust to the National League midway through the season, and was playing through a bone bruise that likely impacted his performance. Now healthy and a bit more familiar with NL pitchers, Dozier will be a good value in fantasy drafts if he comes anywhere close to his past level of performance.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
Moustakas would slate right behind Shaw for me
Michael Florio - Fantrax
It was a lost year for Dozier, and he still came out with 21 homers and 12 steals. That wasn't worth much when paired with a .215 batting average, but the second baseman said he was playing through a knee injury all season. In two seasons before the 2018 downturn, he hit .269 with a combined 76 blasts and 34 steals. Banking on a health-enabled rebound is an interesting risk for those who can risk a subpar average or play in an OBP/points league.
Andrew Gould - FantasyPros
Shaw followed 2017's 31-homer breakout with one more last year, but his 10 steals sliced in half while his average slithered from .273 to .241. That's a peculiar drop considering he also set career bests in walk (13.3%) and strikeout (18.4%) rates with a rise in barrels per batted balls (10.3%). Last year was the time to pass, but drafters should jump back in now that Shaw comes at a cheaper price with second-base eligibility.
