Seattle Mariners reliever Hunter Strickland has been placed on the 60-day IL with a Grade 2 lat strain. Strickland does not currently have a timeline for his recovery, and placing him on the 60-day IL opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for the recently-acquired right-hander Connor Sadzeck.

Notes
A former elite prospect, Glasnow couldn't quite get his act together in Pittsburgh, but things started looking up when he was moved to the Rays. He struggled mightily with the long ball during his brief stint in Tampa, but the much more important thing is that he nearly cut his walk rate in half. Glasnow can miss bats with the best of them, so if he can stop giving away so many free passes we could suddenly be looking at a pitcher who can provide solid ratios to go along with the elite strikeout numbers. He's an exciting breakout candidate.
Andrew Seifter - FantasyPros
Strickland recorded two saves before any other MLB team could win a game. Guess he's the 2019 fantasy MVP, right? Not quite, but this is a case that demands swift attention, as the Tokyo games confirmed his status as Seattle's closer. He also started 2018 strong in the same role for San Francisco before winding up with a 3.97 ERA and 1.41 WHIP, so don't get too carried away.
Andrew Gould - FantasyPros
The former top pitching prospect has struggled enough with his command that the Pirates relegated him back to Triple-A and eventually the bullpen. Once he was traded to Tampa, however, Glasnow showed flashes of his true-ace stuff. In the second half, his walk rate plummeted and he surrendered just a .195 batting average. Perhaps more impressive is the fact that he struck out 11 hitters per nine innings, which is the same as Blake Snell and Patrick Corbin and better than Stephen Strasburg and Luis Severino. With a full season, we could be looking at 220+ Ks to go with solid ratios.
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
You might not love Strickland's pure stuff or his sky-high WHIP, but he is one of the few closers who you can get late that isn't going to face any competition for the job. If you are in need for saves, don't hesitate to plug your nose and add Strickland.
Bobby Sylvester - FantasyPros
Looking like a lost cause in Pittsburgh, Glasnow revitalized his career following a midseason trade to Tampa Bay. The former elite prospect posted a 4.20 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 64 strikeouts in 55.2 frames. The burgeoning hype would be much bigger if not for getting tagged for seven runs by Toronto in the first frame on Sept. 5. His 19 walks in 11 starts actually represented a stark, and workable improvement over past abhorrent command, and he has reportedly thrown his fastball at 98.7 mph (a full two ticks above last season's average velocity) in camp. His rising price is going to skyrocket if the 6'8" righty throws that hard in a spring training game.
Andrew Gould - FantasyPros
The Mariners are in the midst of a complete rebuild, but one under-the-radar move they made this offseason was signing Hunter Strickland away from the Giants on a one-year deal. Strickland took a step backward last year while also suffering a broken hand, but he posted some solid numbers the previous three years. Mariners manager Scott Servais has indicated that the team may not have a "set closer," but Seattle may have an incentive to settle on Strickland as the closer to inflate his trade value. As such, Strickland could be a decent late-round option for saves, even though the chance he's eventually traded to a contender is fairly high.
